I've always struggled to find exercise routines that I can stick to, I don't enjoy them at all and I get bored extremely easily. For my birthday, someone got me a 6 week Crossfit 101 course at his crossfit place (it was something I was interested in, he didn't just give this to me lol) and so far it's been wonderful! The coaches are extremely good at teaching proper form and safety before letting you use weights, and I have never in my life been to a gym or any exercise facility and met with such supportive people. As long as you're working hard, that's all you need. Everyone is so chill and encouraging, you often get the more experienced members cheering the new members through their workouts. Plus the coaches all make the workouts really fun even if they're very tough.
Anyways I was a little bit worried because I heard some bad experiences of trans women in crossfit competitions, but I got a great group. The head coach/owner knows I'm trans and he's totally chill with it. Also he's my height which is extremely helpful to my self-esteem; the gym isnt full of massive towering men, there's lots of small guys too. It's just such a chill, welcoming place and I'm super excited that I've finally enjoyed a way to get fit.
