The Sydney Moring Herald/Kimberley Le Lievre  08/15/2015

"The numbers of children and youth identifying as transgender in the nation's capital have increased substantially.

Anecdotal figures from the Canberra Hospital gender dysphoria team and trans support service A Gender Agenda reveal a growing rate of children and teens seeking support for gender dysphoria.

The surge has bolstered calls for a multi-disciplinary clinic to help manage the physical, mental and emotional requirements of young transgender Canberrans.

A Gender Agenda executive director Sue Webeck said the complexities surrounding children and young people with gender dysphoria meant access to treatment in Canberra would help alleviate some of the distresses faced in this situation."
