Hello, I'm not very good with introductions but...My(Trans) Name is Joanna and I'm 18. Right now I'm not taking any meds or anything at the moment but I will soon, I really really want to transition from mtf. I don't like being called a boy or anything related to male. I have a kinda, if not super strict family. I'm kind of fearful about transitioning around them because they might make fun of me. Well this is all for now. Welcome to Susan's Place. At some point your family will become aware of the transition. A few family to reject the person transitioning but most maintain some form of contact. My family took a long time to fully accept me but we remained on speaking terms and I was able to return home for the holidays without issues. You really don't know exactly what your family will do until you come out to them and I hope you find them to be accepting of you.

And you might say with the help of a therapist you can do easy reversible steps first and see how they make you feel, and proceed this way.
Another way might be informed consent, yet quite a few people say a good therapist may be helpful.
