I'd rather vote for one of the Kardashians...

They're just as smart, have smaller egos, and they're less interested in publicity.

I like that Trump is running. If he's able to secure the nomination, it almost guarantees a Democratic victory.

David Duke voiced support for the guy. That should be enough to make any sane Republican steer clear.

Naw, just steer clear of David Duke. I am not a real supporter of Mr. Donald John Trump myself.

I love that he is running for the same reason lol. The only reason he is in the lead right now is because to many other repubs are running.

I have really mixed feelings about whether or not I want him to get the repub nomination. I feel like if he does get it there will be a smaller voter turn out for the republicans and a larger one for the democrats. Trump has more people that hate him then that like him. That is definitely clear. Even among republicans many cannot stand him despite the fact that he is in the lead. The negative about him winning is that it cast a really poor reflection on republicans. The main reason people like him, is because he doesn't give a crap about anyone who isn't a straight white cis and male and even some of them he doesn't care about (the poor and disabled). They love that he is opposed to political correctness (also known as respect and empathy). It disgust me people are voting for him for such a horrible reason.

On the other hand, if he loses and runs as an independent it would practically ensure a democratic victory. Unfortunately it's not a 100% sure thing that he run as an independent.

So I am going to break my promise not to comment. I think he is the best house in a horrible neighborhood. Politically I am all over the place. I would prefer a Bernie Sanders/Elizabeth Warren administration, but if a Republican gets the presidency, I would prefer that Donald Trump gets it. He is loud, obnoxious, and shameless self-promoter, but he is the most reasonable candidate in the GOP.

I can't imagine him having the nuclear launch codes. Or who he would appoint to the Supreme Court.

I have 10 more (misogynistic) reasons not to let Trump anywhere near public office- EVER.  These quotes should all disqualify him.

1. "I would never buy Ivana any decent jewels or pictures. Why give her negotiable assets?" (1990)

2. "26,000 unreported sexual assaults in the military-only 238 convictions. What did these geniuses expect when they put men & women together?" (Twitter, 2013)

3. "It's certainly not groundbreaking news that the early victories by the women on 'The Apprentice' were, to a very large extent, dependent on their sex appeal." (2004)

4. "You know, it doesn't really matter what [the media] write as long as you've got a young and beautiful piece of ass." (1991)

5. "I mean, we could say politically correct that look doesn't matter, but the look obviously matters. Like you wouldn't have your job if you weren't beautiful." (To female reporter in 2015)

6. "Women have one of the great acts of all time. The smart ones act very feminine and needy, but inside they are real killers. The person who came up with the expression 'the weaker sex' was either very naive or had to be kidding. I have seen women manipulate men with just a twitch of their eye — or perhaps another body part." (1997)

7. "If Hillary Clinton can't satisfy her husband what makes her think she can satisfy America?" (Twitter, 2015)

8. "[Angelina Jolie's] been with so many guys she makes me look like a baby... And, I just don't even find her attractive." (2006)

9. "While Bette Midler is an extremely unattractive woman, I refuse to say that because I always insist on being politically correct." (Twitter, 2012)

10. "My favorite part [of 'Pulp Fiction'] is when Sam has his gun out in the diner and he tells the guy to tell his girlfriend to shut up. Tell that bitch to be cool. Say: 'Bitch be cool.' I love those lines." (2005)

I would be most afraid of his foreign policy tbh. He is a bully, and he does have a temper. He already states that he wants to increase funding to our military. So from what I know about him and after hearing him say the things, I recognize that he flaunts his money and his wealth as a tool to get people to do what he wants. He is very open about i. He is unapologetic about his privilege. I see him doing something like that with the military if he gets to be the commander and chief. He is gonna flaunt our military strength just like he flaunts every thing else he has. It wouldn't be good.

While I agree that santorum or Huckabee or Cruz would be horrible. I am not sure if they would be better or worse then trump.

If any repubs wins I guess I would want it to be Rand Paul even though he still isn't someone I would vote for.

It's hard to buy a billionaire who is doing it for his own ego;)  I always said we needed a person who started out poor, but ended up very wealthy, but more like bill gates..  trumps had too many bankruptcies, but I love drumming him up for the Republicans since he's the best thing they ever had.  I'd vote for him if he went 3rd party or democrat, but I only see hate with the gop..  they were a good party a few decades ago, but like people, they grew up and became bitter..  seems anymore republicans are hate and religion and Democrats are science and opportunity..  neither one can see the other side, but when you are one one of these sides, there could be no middle..  then trump jumped in.  Did anyone else find it disturbing when he has an issue with god in politics , but just recently his favorite book was the bible?  First time I saw him pander to a crowd..  he lost me there..

But just the fact he doesn't have to have anyone buy his campaign, that is sooo refreshing for once..  the moment a Democrat does that completely, they have my vote for sure!

Wish he would jump ship and run with hillary;) don't care who is pres/vice..  just then, I could see old rich people falling in their graves!  That moldy money is starting to make this country stink!

Keep it civilized so the thread doesn't get locked.

He physically abused his wife, financially abused several of his "businesses", and verbally abuses anybody who will listen to him.  It's difficult to talk about Trump's actions and keep it civil as his actions are not civil.

If he treated our nation as he runs his businesses, he would make us file Chapter 11 and outsource all of our citizens.

I read the change in the Republican party differently. When you look at their actions, they've become the party of the very powerful and very wealthy. It's hard to cobble together an electoral majority that way, so they've used hate and xenophobia to rally voters to their cause.
Have you read my short story The Eve of Triumph?

Of all the republican candidate, Trump is the only one I would want to see in office. (Personally I'd prefer Bernie Sanders). Trump might actually do something to help the economy after all he is a shrewd business man. I don't agree with everything on his immigration views. As far as LGBT issues goes, he's not going to help us like Obama has, but he's not going to doing anything to hurt us as he doesn't support any anti-LGBT legislation.

He has stated , more than once, that he opposes gay marriage.

OMG,  run people run, never look back.  We are going to very sad if the people running get in office.  Because of all the influence from the REAL PEOPLE in charge, we are doomed.  We need to fire everyone that is running and start over.  And if the next lot is not any better, we need to re do it again.  We are at a breaking point here, if we dont get the right people in office now, i am afraid our country is doomed and we never come out of it.  Please dont vote for the people they want you too. Dont be sheep,  vote for some one who will help this country not drag it further down.  I dont see anybody that is running that is fit for office.

What are you talking about?  Trump is actually more electable than the Republicans.  If you really want a guaranteed Democratic victory, then you should hope that someone like Rick Santorum wins the Republican primary.  Because, there's no way that guy can win a general election.

Trump is like the Bieber of the republican (except not even kinda cute). Sure he has a huge fan base, but for every person that loves him there are 3 people hate him. If he wins the primary there will be a really high voter turn out from the democrats to make sure he doesn't get elected. Many republicans don't like him either do they might not vote.

Trump is in the spotlight right now because so many people hate him. He puts his foot in his mouth at least once a week, and the news paper eats it up. It really
doesn't bode well for winning an election.

He is running basically on the fact that he was rich enough to pay for his campaign, and the fact that he doesn't care if he's offensive. He is exactly the kind of person America doesn't need in office! we already have enough people like him running corporations! why do we want that kinda of person in office?
