I wonder only very few information is available about that surgery technique. It seems to be very promising. Outside Thailand only Dr. Thomas is performing this technique but several docs in Thailand are performing it according to their websites. Any girl around who had this done in Thailand?

That was the first procedure I looked at and it scared me to the point where if that was my only option, I was going to stick with my old voice. Sometimes it turned out a good voice but far to often the samples I heard sounded machine like. Now if I were in an accident that damaged my larynx, I would consider Dr Thomas for reconstruction but not the feminization procedure.

Just a quick note in case you didn't know, I went with Dr Haben and have a running thread "Dr Haben and Dena's broken voice".

Thanks Dena for this thread. This was one reason why I pre booked surgery with him for Dec 16th. I currently think the risk is pretty low with a good outcome.

I like Dr Haben because he loves his work and he fully explained anything he learned about you and any questions you might have. I would have liked to spend more time with him but he is on the far side of the country so it's unlikely I will see him in person again. I found all the learning before seeing him was useful because I wanted to be sure I would be happy with the results before I went into surgery. As it is, Dr Haben delivered far more than I expected. I have the maximum amount of pitch and the vocal range I gained is unreal. My male voice was very confined as far as inflection. My female voice permits so much inflection I may need to limit it. I questioned it if might be possible to sing as I hadn't done it after puberty but I see how it may now be possible.

Let me know if you have questions because the better you understand the surgery, the better you will be able to use it to your advantage.

Lara, I have heard one video clip where a few transgirls in Thailand spoke and those had alledgedly that procedure done there. It was rather good, but it basically just rumours. There was a transwoman in German television I think last year in the show "transgender" that hat the procedure done with Dr Thomas. Her voice seems to me very weak, feminine but a little bit "gay" - which is more about voice patterns. The weakness was very prominent though, but she had I believe 3 attempts at voice surgery in total, so that may not be the ideal situation either. The voice samples on Dr Thomas' website are mixed as well. As I understand it, if the procedure works, the results are undeniably feminine - but it has a risk of complications that is rather high and it leaves of course a rather big scar.

What I heard recently was, that apparently there is a surgeon in the North of Germany who is doing this procedure as well for some years - but I don't know his name or anyone who has been there. But it may be worth looking into it, if you are from Berlin as your tagline says, this may be an option to get the procedure paid for by insurance (which will not cover Haben or Yeson or Thomas, most likely)
