Of all the republican candidate, Trump is the only one I would want to see in office. (Personally I'd prefer Bernie Sanders). Trump might actually do something to help the economy after all he is a shrewd business man. I don't agree with everything on his immigration views. As far as LGBT issues goes, he's not going to help us like Obama has, but he's not going to doing anything to hurt us as he doesn't support any anti-LGBT legislation.

I can't believe that Sydney is agreeing with me on... politics! Wow!

I think that those of us who live or lived in or around NYC have a different perspective on the Donald than people from, say Arkansas or Colorado. For a real estate developer he has a surprising affinity for media attention and controversy. I don't think I'd feel particularly comfortable with him as President.
April 22, 2015, the day of my first face to face pass in gender neutral clothes and no makeup. It may be months to the next one, but I'm good with that!

My opinion, trump needs to go sit in a dark closet and forget how to open the door.

I would love to see Rand Paul or another Libertarian get the nomination, but sadly we only seem to recognize two parties in this country and any others have to run under a major parties umbrella usually leading to those sub-parties being completely over looked and in the background to the major party players.

Look at everything Paul stands for, strengthening the Constitution AS WRITTEN (bye bye hopes for another AWB), rebuilding our economy, strengthening American Manufacturing, simplifying the tax code, balancing the budget and getting us out of debt, strengthening our military and the list goes on.

I honestly think that it's high time that we stop voting based on lies of "strengthening women's and LGBT rights" because we all know they are only saying it for your vote, but instead start voting for who is going to cut spending and turn that debt clock into reverse.

:icon_female: It happens. I consider myself more independent than anything else. I used to be more republican but when the right wing took it over, especially the Tea Party, the GOP just seemed less and less interesting. I believe in LGBT rights, pro-choice, but I also support right to bare arms and better control of social services like food stamps and immigration. I think the Tea Party has nearly destroyed the GOP and someone like Trump I think agrees.

Paul has his moments, but the frank truth is that American debt is beyond control.  Existing sovereign debt is probably impossible to actually pay at this point, never mind the "unfunded liabilities" (love that term) associated primarily with entitlement spending.  The military can't be strengthened at any affordable cost, as a defense expenditure death spiral is claiming ship acquisition, aircraft acquisition, and whatever we eventually replace the Abrams, Bradley, and Amtraks with, and we'll probably never even have the shipyards to go broke building CVNs, even if we could figure out how to pay for them and their crews.  Never mind the effect of deployments all over the globe on hardware and troop morale, and that's assuming the JSF and LCS are even half as good as advertised, which is a fair question.

That's not to say that efforts to tame the debt and keep the military as strong as possible are a bad thing, nor that simplifying the tax code is a bad idea.  Still, Paul has talked about a commission to study a commodity-based currency which is terrifyingly close to his father's stance of going back on the gold standard.  On that alone, I'd vote for Trump if they were my only two choices.
When in doubt, ignore the moral judgments of anybody who engages in cannibalism.

Considering this topic is still flirting with Bashing of Trump and that it has strayed a bit far from the purpose of this site which is a support site and not a political debate of what other things we want the president to do. Thread locked.
