I finally got on BC through PP to reduce/stop my periods since I am Pre-T and T isn't an option for me for a long time.


I was prescribed a progestin-only pill (the mini pill) a few days ago and started my first pill yesterday. I took the mini pill instead of the combined estrogen pill so I do not have the feminizing side effects that the estrogen pill has.


Does anyone have any experiences with norenthindrone or progesterone BC in general that they could shed some light if it has worked for them and/or if it has given them any feminizing effects?

I'm also looking into getting an IUD if this pill does not effectively at least lighten my period.

Hi Maleth, this is MY experience only:
When I was prescribed the norethindrone mini pills (after going off from the depo provera that ruined my bone density) for the first time, it worked perfectly in stopping the bleeding for the first 5 months but then for reasons unknown, I started having regular periods (as if I wasn't taking anything) so this triggered me to make a decision of taking T along with the mini pills to help it completely stop it and it did do the job but I know in the end that T wasn't for me after all because of the other unwanted side effects. 
I was then prescribed Beyaz (combined pill with very low dose of E) and like you I was very concerned with the feminizing effects but the doctor let me know that this BC pill  had caused some cis women  hirsutism so it may not cause those feminization effects.  I did feel like the mini pills  was causing ovarian pain during some time and apparently it was one of the side effects.  Beyaz also worked in stopping the periods well but I was told that with any contraceptive method, the person is "supposed to get a period at least 3 times" I think because of build up and it won't be "healthy" otherwise and may cause risks.
I was done with the side effects of medications of all kind and so I finally got a hysterectomy and I wish I had it done sooner because the answer to my problems were to be done with surgery instead of taking drugs after all.

I was put on this medication due to my age and like crazy insane bleeding that I wanted stopped. It works pretty well to stop that and I was on depo long ago and it did a number on me I haven't had a problem with this medication and have had no feminizing effects.

How long approximately did it take to stop/greatly lessen any bleeding?

I'm currently due on my first day today but nothing's happening so far, though it may be just late.

Have you looked into the depo provera shots? That's what my doctor recommends for guys on T who are having issues with their periods not stopping. I don't see why it wouldn't work pre-T. Easier than taking a pill everyday too.

I heard that it causes bone density problems :/

So far it's giving me teenage-ferocity spots I haven't had in decades.

Will have to see if it even does anything regards the blood tsunamis I've been dealing with. 

Maleth, I just wanted to let you know that I took the Depo Provera for more than 3 years so that might have been why in my case. If you're referring to  how long it took for the norethindrone tablets to stop the bleeding, it stopped it right away.

My experiences show that so far it's been stopped ever since I started taking them. It seems to be working since I was due half a week ago and nothing's happened except my chest area has felt a lot heavier and sore (I don't think it is growing because I've had soreness before but I really hope no growth is occuring :/).
