Hey Jess, I'm glad you were able to figure it out and have a better follow up in a way
As a FTM guy I do enjoy my vag as it is but the first time having a guy in there was EXTREMELY painful and I couldn't relax at all. I was actually convinced he was in the wrong orifice but we had the lights on. :C
I now find that after much use of stretching and toys it's a lot easier but I still occasionally have times when penetration of any kind is fairly painful, but I have really found that stretching on a regular basis seems to be quite useful. Dilating before you have intercourse seems like an excellent idea and lots of foreplay and lube are great. Plenty of cis women could benefit from this advice too! Anyone who keeps going on with sex when the other person is so very not okay with it is a total jerk!
All at your own risk but you could try coconut oil.
It has small molecules which can help soften the tissue.
Many use it with dilation.
Just be sure the dilation tool is oil resistant.
It has even some antifugal and antiviral properties.
Remember to use latex free condoms then, you might look up which ones are good.
Dilating from time to time with an estrogen cream from the gyn might also help soften the tissue.
