I've been thinking about this question for a while now. I plan on getting SRS and breast augmentation next year. Is it better for me to get my breast augmentation at the same time as SRS or at different times? It will be cheaper if I get them done at the same time, plus I'll go under anesthesia only once. However, I'm concerned about the pain afterwards from getting both surgeries done at the same time. I'm also worried about my ability to effectively dilate, as I imagine it might be quite difficult to maneuver your arms at first due to the breast surgery. Any thoughts on this ladies? I'm eager to hear them!

I'd say if you have access to people who can help you dilate if in case you can't then do it. If not it will suck if you are stuck and unable to properly dilate that might cause unwanted shrinkage.

Yeah, very glad I didn't do that. For a while, I was considering it.

There was someone at the recovery home who did do both. Ouch she was sore and swollen. Poor girl. She had a rough time, and did regret doing them together.

Also consider aftercare. Both procedures are going to take some of your time. It can add up.

I got both Breast augmentation and SRS done at the same time and didn't really have a problem. Out of the two my Boobs were the most painful but while in the recovery room I was able to move enough as was required. Once your out of the hospital a few days later it's uncomfortable but not unbearable and your motion isn't really impaired that much.
I had mine done at Dr Chettawut's and I have to say I am happy with the results, obviously this is no advert for him, only to say that the procedure I had was sub-muscular via the armpit. There the nurses help you with dilation the first 2 days once the packing is out, which is a good number after the surgery itself. The first few dilation's are just plain hard, but I don't think the breasts contributed to them being hard.
Dr Chettawut requires breast massage (or smashing your boobs up against a wall), that can be a bit challenging the first few times but it becomes routine (and boring) very quickly. I certainly don't regret getting both done at once, and am glad I didn't need 2 anesthesia's for it.

I haven't had SRS yet, however, my BA was painful (500cc silicone implants via armpit incisions by Dr. Chettawut), but it did not restrict the range of motion in my arms, so I do not think it would affect your ability to dilate.

I would probably do them both at the same time, but I will have only been on hormones for a year and a half by the time I get GRS, so I don't think it'd be a good idea to have BA yet at that point. I hear it's best to wait like 5 years to see how you grow.

I haven't had BA but I've spent the last 2 weeks nursing someone who did both together, You've named the benefits really well and I personally would have gone with both together. My little friend here however says if you're coming alone then seriously consider delaying one and do the other first. Most of the complaints I've heard have been about BA pain not SRS.

Thank you all for your responses! It seems like the opinions are quite mixed, making it still hard for me to decide whether I should do them at the same time or different times lol. I guess sometimes you just have to go with your gut feeling and hope for the best.

I'd say consider your situation.
Are you alone, is there someone with you ?

You might look for friends in hotels...

and yes, go with your gut instinct... or intuition 

and you might read up a few experiences of others... what to duplicate and what to avoid...

If I had that option when I transitioned, I would have gone for both at the same time just for financial reasons. Both surgeries went well for me. The pain for both was tolerable. In fact just two days after my BA, I went shopping for swimwear. I still had drains in but I really had a good time, even though I sat down a couple times in the mall. And that was my best bikini I've ever found. It fit great and gave me hips where I had none.

A week after I came home from GRS... so that would be two weeks... I drove 250 miles to meet my folks for a weekend vacation. I wasn't back to work yet. The picture on the cover of my book was taken that weekend.

I'm not saying it isn't all painful, but I could do both together. Just don't count out the fact that you may, uh, develop more resources than you think AFTER you have GRS. So that may be of consideration to you. I grew and I've not liked that so much. It forces me to buy a size larger than would the smaller size but for one inch.

I did them both at the same time, I don't really recommend it. SRS isn't too bad to recover from, BA is really hard work though. Like. REALLY hard work. It's pretty serious trauma to your pectoral muscles. It was only hard for the first couple of weeks but. It's still hard work. If I could go back in time, I'd have made myself bring a support person along to help me.

My vote would go to keeping them separate. Recovery from SRS involves too much upper body work.

I think I'll probably keep the two surgeries separate, because the thought of having my mom help me dilate makes me uncomfortable and awkward.

Bootifulone managed to dilate on her own and she is pretty small in frame size. I am not saying it is easy because dilation at the start isn't easy even without BA but if you're happy with seperate then I'd stick to that decision

I had srs and ba done at the same time. it was terrible waking up after surgery, but after that it was no problem. The pain from BA was worse than the pain from SRS. That said, the BA pain was mostly mostly gone by the time the packing came out, so I had absolutely no difficulty dilating. To be honest, I think doing them together or doing BA first are the better options than doing SRS first and then BA. I just cant imagine having to dilate immediately after BA. 

I had both procedures done at the same time. While my nips were very sensitive to contact for a while, it didn't interfere with my dilation regimen. I stayed in the hospital for about 5 or 6 days after the surgery before flying home.

I had BA before SRS and I remember that the muscles in my chest hurt so bad that I had to roll out of the bed.  I could not sit up in the bed and then get out for about three days.  But after that it was really not bad at all.  I just could not wait until I did not have the wear the special bra they gave me at the doctor's office.  I can see where it might be a problem with dilation if you had both done at the same time.  I would try to make the first week or so after SRS as pain free as possible.  Good luck.  All the pain you go through is definitely worth it!

Very interesting opinions. So it looks like I might be able to get away with doing both procedures done at the same time.
