After half a century of struggle I am now moving forward confidently into transition. I feel a contentment that is hard to describe but I know that it's linked to self acceptance and the fact that I'm now in therapy and have started electrolysis. I am seeing my therapist tomorrow and she is referring me to an endricronologist for hormones. I know I have a long path which will be full of ups and downs but I'm thrilled to finally be here and so excited about my life going forward! Hello to everyone!

Hi Dianne,

A big Aussie welcome to Susan's family. It's good of you to drop in and say "Hi". Hope you like it here, and you stay for a while.

There is a mountain of information, resources and friendship waiting for you here, you just need to jump in start talking and ask any question you like. You're quite safe here and we are very accepting.

Sounds like you're off to an excellent start. Therapy is the best way to navigate the labyrinth of roller coaster emotions. Just wait till you start HT, your brain will feel likes it's been turned upside down and inside out at the same time  ;D ;D Embrace and enjoy it

And yes, you need 10 posts before a whole suite of fabulous bonuses come your way. Including tea and scones, Tuesday night.

Looking forward to hearing more of your story in time to come, but in the meantime, be safe, well and happy.

Lotsa huggs
Catherine

SO happy for you!  I am just getting started (late) also.  Please-please-please keep the positive attitude that shines though in you post!  It is better nourishment than Tea and Scones (just teasing Catherine, lol). I know that contentment you are speaking of.  Its WONDERFUL!  Good luck, we're here for you.  xo - Holly

Hey, hey, hey; Holly,
Watch your language please. These are pure genuine outback Aussie scones (pron: sk- on-z, not sk-owns-z as some ancient tribes defer to them as) we are talking about here. Not some cheap Japanese imports from Taiwan.  Yeah, sure to cover costs we might use cheap plastic imitation Indian Celony tea, but scones are as Aussie as Pavlova and Dane Nellie Melba.

Speak to you as soon as I'm out of the hair dresser.

Hi Dianne!

Started my transition at 67.  Wish I could have started earlier!  Just glad I finally did it.  You'll really blossom, especially after you start the hormones.  Just be patient, they don't work as quickly on us older girls (in some respects), but change you will.

Hugz!

Joi

Thanks for the encouragement Joi and the kind words! I'm so looking forward to everything but know that there will be downs as well as ups so I'm prepared and I can't wait to blossom!!
Thanks again

Dear Dianne;

Welcome to Susan's Place. As you have seen, there's some very friendly folks on here.

I too started to transition very late, about your age. It's been a roller coaster ride and some very rough parts but in the end, I feel it was worth it to me. I don't know how I could have made it without transitioning.

Transitioning is a very personal journey. You can go as far as you like surgically or do nothing other than declaring you are who you are.

Love,
Clare
