Hey all,

This is my first post on the forum, and I'm also just slightly hopped up on pain meds, so forgive me if I post this in the wrong place. Just thought I'd make a post to document the healing process. It helped me immensely to read everything I could about FFS before the big day, so I'd like to give back by sharing some of my experiences. Eventually I'll be able to post before and after pics, virtual FFS pics, etc. Feel free to ask any questions you may have, but understand I might not be able to answer them all while healing.

Here's me earlier today:

Hey all,

Thanks for your kind words. It's the start of day 3 for me. I've been following my pain med schedule much more closely and feel tons better. Still, it's true what people say about FFS: it isn't the pain that gets you, it's the discomfort. Breathing out of my nose is nigh impossible, and that can really freak me out in the middle of the night. I also never slept on my back before the surgery, always preferring to sleep on my stomach. So there's so much that it changes about the way I have to exist in the world. It really sucks. But I was told yesterday was to be the worst day, and I think I see that playing out. I feel like I'm ALMOST able to breathe out of my nose, and I have a much easier time swallowing now.

Anyway, will letcha know how things go! Hopefully I can go on a walk today. I'm also getting my hunger back and craving so many things I definitely can't eat (grilled salmon! kebabs! fried chicken!)

here's me today:
