Today I was denied surgery with the Yeson clinic  because I'm HIV positive.    I just had a full face feminisation and Breast augmentation with dr Rossi in Argentina and recovered fantastically and look great.
As transsexual I have been discriminated before by another doctor in Argentina and now by this clinic. 
I would recommend anybody who is thinking to have a surgery in this clinic to think if they csn trust / be touch by a group of  doctors that discriminate.  It's totally immoral
Besides immoral it's frightening cause ignorance is the reason of HIV spreading.  There is a window period in which they can't know if the person is infected and therefore its very unsafe to be treated in a clinic that claims is not prepare to take HIV patients.  ( it is actually very unsafe for the non HIV patient )

It's a  repulsive behaviour and we should all think twice about it.  Think if you have an HIV friend or anybody near you, what would happen if there is an accident in the streets and this doctors don't assist them ?

Of course this immoral doctors won't touch me not my money.  I hope it will not yours.

I am sorry you had this experience. I know there are sadly quite a few surgeons out there who do not want to perform "on demand" surgeries with people who have certain conditions, among them HIV. I think I had to do a HIV test even before I was admitted to GRS back when I did that. I know that in present times, this should not be as much of an issue anymore. I have the impression, Asian countries are a bit lagging behind in terms of adopting a HIV friendly policy? Maybe because of some cultural reasons. They should be educated about this - are there any ways to bring information to surgeons who have fear of HIV that can convince them that this fear is not warranted? Reserach articles, Flyers, Leaflets, direct contact with HIV activists who have good information and a good reputation?

I may be wrong about this, but I believe discrimination against people with HIV is illegal in the U.S. under the Americans with Disabilities Act. Other countries have different laws.

I don't know if there are any comparable options in the U.S., but that might be something to look into.

It's not like they don't say this up front though. And yes, they do test. They've never said why they wouldn't.

Welcome to Susan's Place. With what we know about HIV it was wrong to deny you treatment but there are risks of not disclosing everything about your medical conditions in advanced. Should you have a life treating condition a doctor may chose not to treatment you because they may not have the facilities to handle the issues the might happen in surgery. Also other countries have different laws and a doctor might be limited because of legal reasons.

When I visit a doctor, I have a laundry list of medical conditions I have accumulated over the years. None of them are important or would be noticed with an examination but doctors want a complete medical history so they don't have surprises when they treat you. I hate the paperwork but I understand why the doctor wants it.

Ah - this is interesting. So the two work together? Remarcle and "Dr Bart"? I did not know that - I know about Remarcle and Dr Bart did FFS on some people I know. I was at a consultation with him once. I did not know the two work together.

Prof Remarcle does glottoplasty similar to that Dr Haben does (in respect to the technique used) which differs in some details from what Dr Kim at Yeson Clinic does, but its not clear if there are clearcut advantages to each of these techniques. I also do not see that Remarcle or Haben are in any way to be preferred over the other. I heard good and bad stories about both, same with Dr Kim - but the majority of the stories seem to be positive...

Yep, Dr. Bart has massively expanded his offerings now by using third parties, to include BA, VFS, intense electrolysis, body sculpting, and of course FFS. Its probably related to his acquisition of the Picard clinic.

That is one thing that makes me a bit scared of Thailand. If I remember correctly Supporn (and possibly Chet also) won't take HIV+ patients. He/they refer them to another doctor who will take them. Now, this is no problem for me, but the reason they won't take them is what is scary -- it would require them to use disposable equipment. Wait a minute, does that mean they are REUSING non-sterile equipment??? Like you said, there is a period where HIV is undetectable. An HIV+ patient could easily slip through and if they aren't using proper sterilization and safety procedures then heaven knows what you could catch (not just HIV).

I doubt that they are not using proper sterilization. But it may be a good idea to ask them again about this. My take would be that they are sterilizing equipment (heat/steam sterilization) they are using again, but possibly regulations exist that this is not allowed in case of HIV patients. If so, it may be possible to get a surgery there by accepting the additional costs for disposing the equipment?

Some surgeons are like that. They like to cherry pick cases and I get them only wanting easy cases (cases where they don't have to have a internist fallow your care on top of them). But if your heathy and all the ore medical screening goes well I do t see why they would deny you. That's not cool

I will be going back to Argentina for face / neck lifting on March / April  ( had my ffs there in October ) and two months later will see DR Haben

I work at a hospital. We have about 100 airborne infectious isolation rooms. We have a special isolation suite for several patients with EBOLA. We have 2 patient wards that can be converted to infectious wards. We have and operate on HIV and other infectious patients routinely. We have a HIV lab, HIV research and HIV patients. I am trained in and provide service with infectious patients and the staff that support them.

I have friends with HIV.

The doctor is discriminating.
