Darn it I miss out just because I like dilating  :o :o :o

It's Christmas time Sorcha, we make exceptions. Please join the queue, just near the doorway there. You never never know, you may enjoy the "organic" ones better than your current "brand".  ;D;D. :icon_cry2:

Speak to you as soon as I finish writing a list.

Give it 30 years or so and you'll be watching them randomly fall out of a forgotten drawer and thinking "what the heck are those? ... oh yeah I remember now!" :P

Seriously - after a while other more fun implements can be used and dilators simply dont feature.

OMG Too Funny

Isn't it like 4 times a day for the first month to dilate? How long for each dilation?
  •

Dena

It can be up to 5 times a day for 20-30 minutes a day depending on the surgeon. Add another 10 minutes prep and clean up time and it quickly becomes a real drag.

I was working and trying to keep up with the dilatation schedule for the first month and I know I didn't dilate enough. It was pretty painful regaining what I lost but I don't think I suffered permanent damage as the result of it.

A quiet time several times a week where I can sit still and enjoy TV, reading, listening to music or just spacing out, while at the same time celebrate that my body is now shaped the way it should be.

I actually look forward to it.

Hugs Catherine. I hope you can find some joy in it.

What suzifrommd said!! This is my quiet time in the evening. Insert, grab the tray with the laptop, browse or watch a TV show or movie. Nobody to bother me either. :)

It varies per surgeon. Dr. Chettawut wants three times a day for 40 minutes each which I stuck to for the first 3 months, but to simplify work, I cut down to twice a day but increased total time so it's still 2 hours or more. It's been 2 months since I modified my schedule and I've had no loss of depth and am now using the last (orange) sole source dilator.

Hi Liz

I had SRS with Dr Bowers in October and she told me three time a day for 15 minutes and I have not lost anything and it has only got essayer to do and I do not mind it

Here's my question, most surgeons say that you have to wait around 3 months for sex I wonder why they say that? I mean especially if we have to dilate within that time what's the different if it's a penis? I girl told me she had sex within the first month! I ask because like I said I prefer to get help dilating lol

There is little danger that sutures will tear during dilation. Neovaginas are constructed in such a way that a dilator can be inserted fairly early in the healing process.

Sex is a much less constrained process and the possibility of ripping open a suture is much higher.
Have you read my short story The Eve of Triumph?

Oh my we don't want that now guess I'm on my own for dilation

Hi Sweetie

I'm 7 weeks post-op and I would never have sex before I'm suppose to. I have a boy friend that is sweating it out waiting for me. He has know choice. See that is were his brain must be because he doesn't want to listen to me.

Oh Well

(I hear y'all; I'm down to every other week and sometimes I don't even want to do that. ;) )

Also, until the 3-month mark I had to disinfect my dilators thoroughly before and after every session. It's hard to do that with a penis - they're not built to stand up to the sort of disinfection that plastic or even fingers can handle - and organic body parts are naturally covered in bacteria. (Especially ones used for excretion.) That's normal and fine, but a bad idea in recent surgical site. And since infection is a REALLY significant problem when there's a) serious incisions and b) a channel basically directly into the body, the surgeons want to be super cautious about keeping things as clean as possible.

Yes, the exterior vulva is also involved in excretion and hard to disinfect and that can't be helped, but they want to avoid the risks that *can* be avoided.

Yes I did hear someone say they waited a month but I will for sure listen to the surgeon I will probably realize how serious the directions are when I'm actually witnessing it still swollen I do not want an infected or torn vagina that's a no no :o

I'm a month post op, and as much as I want to have sex (being 23 with a high sex drive) I don't even think a penis could fit in there seeing as how tight the neovagina is this early post op & how well endowed every man I associate with is. & if it could fit in there, I'm sure it would be an uncomfortable experience for both the man & I. Also the risk of infections is high since the wound isn't fully healed. & I doubt a man would want to feel the stitches around the neovagina. I have two long stitches hanging near the entrance of my cucci right now just waiting to fall off lol.
