'Presidential hopeful Ted Cruz has explained that he opposes basic equality for transgender people because he thinks trans kids will molest his daughters.

The Republican Senator is a notorious opponent of LGBT rights, but has been tacking even further right in recent weeks in a bid to gain ground on frontrunner Donald Trump. "

They are a lot more interested in NOT getting beat up in the boys locker room than they are in his daughters.

talk about a living hell if his kids were transgender

No chance of that. He would not allow it. There will be no transpeople in his family. Period. The end.

I find it frustrating almost to no end that we continue to be governed essentially by anecdotes and not by facts.  Someone's irrational fear about what MTF transgendered girls might do, despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary resonates and drives policy, while real risks and outrageous obstacles faced by those same girls are ignored and the true victims ridiculed.

I'm so grateful for those illuminated communities where people are able to dress in safe spaces, and non-gendered bathrooms are starting to take root.  It does give me some hope, although it may ultimately require virtual migrations from inhospitable environments to more welcoming ones.

Its a sad state of affairs when someone can say something so stupid and still be a presidential hopeful.

The scary part is that unlike Huckabee, this guy actually stands a chance. He was even polling ahead of Trump in Iowa and is second (behind Trump) in many polls.
