Hello, i'm 3 month posr-op now. A few weeks aftet surgery i recognized hairloss and my skin became very unclean. It feels like before HRT and like skin men have. No softness anymore. My hormones are good, good bloodlevels. I take vitamines and minerals to support hair and recovery. But things didnt change until now.

Anybody who had similar experiences?

Didn't notice my skin changing, but did have some hair loss. My vita D was really low after spending so much time inside recovering which can cause and my GP said hair loss after major invasive surgery is a normal thing, there was even a name for it. Everything seems to be back to normal for me after 6 moths and getting my vitamin D sorted.

I did have 2 baths a day for the first 3 months though, not much chance to feel unclean
I will touch a 100 flowers and not pick one.

I think hair loss can be a side effect of general anesthesia.

But i had 2 other surgeries the month before SRS and no hairloss after.
How could it be?

Effects of anesthesia likely depend on the length of the surgery, and SRS is quite long. Were the others?

Yes, sure. Without Andorcur my T was going up to man-ranges.

Going under general anesthesia always knocks me around and it seems to take months before my body finally gets rid of it all.  That's one of the big reasons why I have zero interest in undergoing anymore surgery.

I took Androcur for 3 years without any problems. It all first came after SRS.

Sounds like DHT level is now to High. Skin and hair reacts to DHT.

PM me your labs?

Post SRS my skin was crazy oily. Things balanced out eventually and I'm on the sensitive/dry side now.

I replied on a slightly different topic ... I'm post-op over 30 years.  About 2 years after SRS all of my body hair on my arms, legs, chest, back disappeared.  My head hairline has NOT suffered the male-pattern baldness that everyone else in my family has ... So changes in skin & hair may take a couple of years to fully manifest themselves.
It took a lot of doing, but I take a lot of pride in what I am.

I dont have that time ... a couple of years.

So generally HRT is a game of patience - whether we like it or not.

First and foremost drink water! Some things for you to try would be to make sure you're getting your basic vitamins. It helps to eat your vitamins when possible vs supplements or topical things (see bioavailability). Make sure you're getting enough micronutrients and electrolytes.

Coming off AAs your skin and scalp will be producing a lot of oil as they've been suppressed (see sebaceous gland inhibition from spiro and cypro) until now and there's an acclimation period.

Everyone's skin and hair is different. Find a proper hygiene regime that works for you. Proper cleansing and exfoliating, shampooing and conditioning, etc. This step isn't trans specific by any means.

Once hair grows long enough some of it falls out, it's natural.

T and DHT levels if anything will need supplementation postop. Also from my understanding anesthesia isn't that likely to cause hair loss in most people and if it does it's not solely anesthesia alone.

-its possible srs is like a shock to the system, and a few things get loose...

-some substances used for anaesthesia or pain relief might be excreted...

-there migt be some toxins excreted through the skin... so as others said its important to drink enough water...
and maybe take regular baths in salt water...
might also help for hair...

-how is your diet ? Healthy, enough fruit and vitamins, no junk food or artificial components... no spices with flavour enhancers etc...

As i said:

Before SRS -> its okay, some regrowth, no hairloss, perfect skin
After SRS -> desaster, hairloss, regrowth goes back, skin is very rough and dry

Ive the same things ive tried and explored over the years and tested for good. Only change is SRS.

On SRS, your body is subject to stress and an array of chemicals, for anaestesia and pain relief.
Also after removal of gonads there might be feedback loops which signal low testosterone, and the endocrine system tries to produce testo wherever possible. This should even out over some time.

I'd say eat healthy, do some light exercises, and after some times things should come back to normal.

Anti androgens as you said might help, and it might take some time until hormone levels find a new basis.
I personally would look for estrogen well in the female level, some bioidentical progesterone and wait until t levels out.
t levels should not be zero though... they should also be in the female range.

Sorry if I missed it as I read every post but is this hair loss from just head or from all over or various parts of the body? Surely the causes would be different if it were not just the head. I always lose more hair when I'm stressed but this maybe sounds more like a case for a dermatologist.

Again: My serum levels are all in the right female ranges. E2 at 100 pg/ml, T at 0,4 ng/ml and DHT at 122 pg/m. Its all right, but it doesnt work me. I eat healthy since a lot of years, and exercise is still unpossible. I cant walk and sit since surgery 3,5 month ago.

Its on the head only. My dermatologist says its from hormones, just the same things like here.
