Hello everyone!

I am a MTF in my mid thirties from Rhode Island. I have been on hormones for 7 weeks now and waiting as patient as possible to see results. I am happily married to an amazing woman who has been nothing but supportive and caring to me. I have also told a few family members who have been fantastic as well. I know I am extremely lucky for the response I have received from the few I have told, I know its not the norm.

I am still very in the closet so as much as I like going out and doing things, I tend to stay home most of the time because I hate have to pretend to be male for that time. I was lucky enough to find a girl to do my makeup and show me a lot of good ways and tricks to applying it so I have been practicing a lot in the hopes to build enough confidence to go out as me for the first time. I'm so tired of hiding!

I love making new friends from all over but I really wish I could make some local friends to help with hair, makeup, chatting, and just friendship. I have tried just about every app and site out there with no luck. I have reached out to a local peer to peer support group but its very scary to meet so many in person at one time.

Anyways, I am happy to be here to meet new friends, learn some things, and hopeful help some others.

Also can someone explain why I can't update my profile with a pic or location, or anything?

You have to have a certain number of posts before you can upload an avatar or pics. Welcome! I'm originally from RI myself. Living right outside of Boston now though.

Hi Emily (It came down to Emily or Devlyn for me when I chose a name!), welcome to Susan's Place! I'm just outside Boston, too. Don't be afraid of support groups, transgender people don't bite. Well, I do, but I'm up to date on my rabies shots!   See you around the site!

Hugs, Devlyn

Emily,

Welcome to Susan's. There are a lot of terrific people here who are very supportive. Just ask a question. There are some rules and a moderator will probably come and post some links to those.

One rule is that you need 15 "quality posts" before you can really change much of your profile or avatar.

Good luck, and have a smooth journey, wherever it takes you.

With warmth,

Joanna

Hi Michelle, I was wondering if you would mind emailing me. Because you use to live in RI I was wondering if I could ask you somethings. Thanks Emilyclark15@yahoo.com

I would also like to say thank you to the other warm welcomes and info. I hope I hit the posts soon.

Welcome Emily! New around here myself and also lucky enough to have a fantastically understanding and supportive wife.
It's an amazing feeling to finally be able to just simply be...me. It will be a journey but then what is life but one grand journey to find ourselves, right?
