Trouser shopping

So today I went trouser shopping because all my trousers had holes in at the thighs.
I decided I wanted black jeans, so I tried on the regular fit ones and they looked horrid and made me look curvy and fat and just horrendous. One shop only had super skinny, skinny and slim so I laughed and asked my mum why didn't they have one labelled fat because that's want I needed. I tried some slim fit and they looked decent and that made me happy. Then as a joke much later I tried on some skinny jeans and I was really shocked because I looked, well, nice... I looked hot and they didn't cling in horrid places and I looked really really unmistakably male. I am confused by this and my best friend thinks it must be sorcery because you wouldn't expect my fat 188lb ass to fit into skinny jeans but I did and I looked hot.
But yeah I now have black skinny jeans and that's a sentunce I never thought I would say. I always had the same thoughts as my mum on skinny jeans, basically I thought they were horrid.
Does anyone else look manlier in skinny jeans? Anyone got an idea why this happened?

I've heard of guys wearing skinny jeans because the tightness smooshes in some of your curves. I just wear them because i like them P:

Even though I have pretty big thighs since I'm way overweight (work in progress haha), I've noticed I do pass better in skinny jeans, as well as tighter-fitting shirts when I used to dress baggily to hide my stomach.

I might be wrong, but I remember hearing once that wearing baggy clothes (or even clothes that just don't fit 100% right) make you seem smaller than you actually are, which is part of why I didn't pass until recently, I guess.

Black jeans really are nice, though. I honestly can't stand that yellow stitching they use on most jeans.

never pictured myself in skinny jeans but then I got into them and really liked them. I won't wear SUPER skinny jeans though because that's too much for me. The best pair of jeans I have are Skinny Tech Stretch. I got them from H&M and at the time they were 25 bucks on sale. They're really damn comfortable and the thigh stretches so you don't feel suffocated. I plan on getting some more at some point, unfortunately, they're 50 bucks now :p. I think the hard part with skinny jeans is finding a good pair of shoes to go with them but I just stick with Vans.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I dunno.

I accidentally tried on skinny jeans and was impressed by them. I never tried them on because of my monster thighs, but I was pleasantly surprised and they're my favourites now!

Do you guys try things on in shops?

I own 3 pairs of cheap skinny jeans and they're the only pants I own and wear. I have extremely long legs and big thighs so jeans from the men's section have never and will never be an option, especially straight leg and the like because my legs are so curvy that I look fat. Hence why I still wear a skirt to school...

They cling to the muscle on your legs and show it off. It also looks more like the curvature is intentional instead of unintentional.

It entirely depends on your shape: we're all individuals and different things suit different shapes.

However, skinny jeans can emphasise the width of your hips, making it obvious that your legs are more widely spaced at the top than at the bottom (unlike most cis guys' legs, which tend to be straight up & down). I'd advise caution when wearing them: in most cases you're more likely to be clocked unless you already pass very well. I used to have very wide hips (and still do to a certain extent) so skinny jeans looked terrible on me until I started to pass and my body fat started to redistribute.

The best cut for most guys is straight cut, because it disguises the tell-tale angle of our legs that is caused by having wider hips.

The worst cut is boot-cut, which gives even the most masculine physique a more feminine shape.

cool guys 😃I'm glad I'm not the only one.
But yeah they masculinise my shape a lot and they make me actually look like a teenager instead of a child trying to dress grownup. Straight cut jeans looked so insanely ugly on me it made me cry tbh.

Yeah Peep I try them on in the shop.

I almost always wear skinny jeans because they somehow magically hide my curves. That being said, I discovered that wearing them in light colours like light grey, light blue, etc, makes my hips look massive. So yeah. Skinny jean= good despite what lots of people say. Although I think it also depends on your body shape.

Personally, I love skinny jeans. They help me pass soo much. I think it's the shape, especially male skinny jeans, because they seem to just go straight down rather than trying to shape or hug you in any way.

i heard that you should wear dark bottoms and light tops, because lighter colours make you look wider. but i always just wear dark and dark lol

I'm the same. I always thought I was doing something wrong because every article I read ever says skinny jeans are a no for transguys. But, if I wear just the right length shirt to cover my just above my hips, it makes my curves way less noticeable. Unfortunately, I'm really curvy with a rather large behind lol. I'm not fat but I have just enough extra fat to burn that is in my thighs and ass as that's how my genetics are. Hopefully T will help me with this. I'm trying to lose 5-10kg before going on T also, I'm 58kg atm lost 3kg so far.

So yeah, you're not alone. I find black and skinny works well. Or any dark colour maybe dark navy. Light covers are going to do nothing but point it out more. Dark also does well for me in tops as it makes your chest look flatter from in-front, at least to me. Creases are less noticeable which I have sometimes as my chest is rather large and hard to bind completely. Wearing back skinny jeans and a dark shirt I've been called sir a lot.

I noticed the same thing. I'm pretty big but straight fit are horrible. They will make your hips look big and very noticeable and you just look fat. Skinny jeans are meant to slim (basically a binder for your thighs)  but some people don't like how tight they are. Like I don't really like them since they end up hugging my waist and I don't like that so I get straight slim or something along that line. It slims me down and doesn't make me feel uncomfortable and I can move in them.
I have these really nice pants from Amazon but the crotch area made it nearly impossible to move so I got a size up. They were huge, no longer slim straight, the crotch area ripped, and they made me look huge( I am but still lol). So my normal size that was straight slim looked way better on me even if it hugged my waist some days. So the point I'm trying to make is that I stay with slim straight and don't go a size up

I personally like anything "slim fit".  Slim fit is where it is cut slimmer in the hips and thighs but not necessarily the leg, unlike skinny fit which is cut slim everywhere.  I have slim fit bootcut, slim fit straight, and one slim fit tapered.  The reason I like this cut is that my hips and thighs are a little curvy but not so badly it's really noticeable UNLESS I wear jeans that emphasize how SMALL my calves and ankles are in comparison (I have very small bone structure).  I think the best type of trousers depends on the person, and I definitely suggest trying on a bunch until you get something you like.  I wear a lot of Slim Fit Stretch Cowboy Cut Wranglers not because they look the best of all jeans on me (the high waist makes my torso look short) but because I am at the barn all the time and need sturdy jeans, not fashion jeans.  Some of my fashion jeans seem more stylish, but sometimes you need to go with what is ideal for your situation rather than your form.

Not long ago I went shopping for men's breeches (the tights-like pants that you wear with knee high boots when riding horses English.). Obviously no cut of what is basically khaki tights with a knee patch is going to be ideal, but trying them on I found that some brands actually made me look more masculine than others.  I couldn't' tell you WHY to save my life since they are both tights, but there was something subtle to the structure that just made one brand look better than the others.  So I sincerely suggest trying a ton on until you find something that clicks in your mind as looking masculine.  A jean style that works for one guy may not work for you, and that same style in another brand may not work the same.

Straight leg only for me. I don't look or feel good in skinny jeans. As to the waist issue, I belt mine below my actual waist. My overall silhouette looks pretty decent to me that way.
