How to Prepare for Top Surgery?

Hello, I have my consultation or top surgery next month and am very excited.  Obviously, I want the operation to go as well as possible, so I'm wondering how best to physically prepare or it?

All I know for sure is no alcohol leading up to the surgery; I've been told to limit to no more than 1-3 drinks a week, but I don't really drink much at all to begin with so that's fine.
I try to eat as healthy as possible, but being poor makes it difficult.
1.) My big question, then, is how crucial is exercise prior to the operation?

Currently, it's hard or me to find time to exercise because I work so much, but I imagine this would be beneficial.
I heard one guy who had a lot of pectoral muscle that turned into breast tissue from childhood, which resulted in the surgeon needing to scrape tissue from the muscle.

2.) Next, out of curiosity, which type of surgery do you think has the best results?  I know this greatly depends on body type, but I've been thinking I might want periareolar / keyhole because of its minimal scaring.  I used to be an A almost B cup, but after being on T for 2 years, I am now much smaller.  Probably an A or AA, if that exists.  However, I'm not too impressed with some of the results I've seen on transbucket as for some guys the chest still looks a little feminine in my opinion.
Thanks in advance.

I didn't exercise much at all. The hardest part for about 3 or 4 days was sitting up! Be surprised at what muscles you use. It will help if you have someone to help you sit up from a laying down position. I imagine you'll be prescribed antibiotics and anti-nausea pills. I just took the antibiotics but was supposed to have taken both at the same time. Check with your surgeon about the medications.

Once you get the ok, you can skip wearing a bra as you will want gravity to take over and give them a more natural appearance.

Good luck!!

Clare

I'm not sure if we're talking about the same top surgery! Haha, I'm referring to a double mastectomy.
Thank you for the response though.

I moved it to FTM top surgery for you. I think you will get more responses here.

Personally, I think the best DI results are from those who have developed pectoral muscles. The shadow of the pec line can hide double masectomy scars. It also makes it easier for the surgeon to be able to contour the chest. However I do not think it is necessary, just beneficial.

I would have to agree with you on keyhole/peri, the DI technique allows the surgeon to reposition the nipples to a more male location and even with the scars, it looks more convincing.

That's true.  I feel like DI's are more common procedures, and maybe that's why.  Regardless, I'd better start working out now! Haha.  Finger's crossed.

Well, don't I seem like a fool. It isn't often that the surgery is the other way. I do really wish you well and a speedy recovery!!

The better pecs you have, the easier it is for the surgeon. But it doesn't matter too much. You can always build them after the fact, and as long as the surgeon's incision positioning was correct, the scar will be just below the pec line.

I was borderline in size between peri and DI. My surgeon was also willing to do a sort of combo procedure in which she'd take most of the tissue out peri-style, but do a lateral incision leading to the armpit to remove excess tissue. I still opted for DI, as I wanted to have my nipples completely resized and repositioned.

I don't think any one procedure has the best results - it completely depends what is best for your needs.
