My endo says he doesn't do an initial blood test because the levels will change on T any ways. He then does the first one 3 months later.

Is there any adverse effects of not getting a baseline test?

Am I worried for nothing or should I insist on one?

I am also on depo provera and think that if I get a baseline test I should do it right before the next shot?

Unless you suspect you naturally have very high T levels your current levels should be so low they make little difference. For me going back on estrogen, my T levels were checked but my estrogen levels weren't. That decision has proved correct because with a little over a month on estrogen I am seeing major changes so my normal estrogen levels must have been bottomed out. T levels were only check to ensure I wouldn't need a blocker or a supplement.

Not clear but you should have had tests checking liver and kidney function as well as a normal review of you health. If you had that done in a normal physical exam, that should be enough.

I didn't get a baseline T-level test. My baseline blood work was to look at red blood cell count and thyroid and kidney function. My doctor felt that these were most important to get a baseline for, as I wouldn't be likely to notice if something were wrong with either of those. I didn't get the first test of my levels until 3 months on T. My dose would have been changed at that point if it was too low, too high, or if I was having some more negative symptoms related to having a too low or too high dose.

I agree with my doctors logic about the tests she chose initially. If you'd like to ask to have at least those done, I can get you a specific list of what they were. I think I had a total of 5 in that lab order.

I would check with the doctor about the depo provera shot. I imagine it would be best to do it right after any test of your levels.

I think you should in order to know if you're healthy enough to take T and to know what dosage to prescribe you. It's necessary in the UK to have these done; even if you're going the private route. I would definitely ask for a blood test done for your kidneys and liver as these are the parts of the body most affected by hormones. From what I can remember I also had prolactin; urea and electorates; oestrogen and testosterone checked.

If I could have a list of those tests that would be great. I don't want to annoy my endo so I could always get my regular doctor to order them.

I assume my E and T are in normal female range as I don't have extra hair or anything like that.

I know I am healthy enough. 24 years old, less than 120 pounds, with no major health problems. Most I get is a runny nose.

On my intake I had: TSH+T4+T3, Comp. Metabolic Panel, Lipid Panel, and CBC with Differential/Platelet. That's how they're listed on my lab results. At every visit after that, I get a Comp. Metabolic Panel, CBC with Differential/Platelet, and Testosterone Serum.

For some reason he already gave me the blood order for July.

My doctor gave me my blood test order several months in advance as well and neither doctor I have seen ever did baseline blood tests. I was told that unless I was concerned about my levels or knew I had a chance to have certain medical conditions that a baseline test wasn't necessary.

I went and got the same baseline ones that you had Max. I may have not needed the test but it gives me piece of mind that if something goes bad on T that I will know what they are before. Should get results in a couple days. In other news still waiting on approval for my T script. Been a week now.
