North Carolina loses 400 jobs as PayPal pulls facility

http://money.cnn.com/2016/04/05/technology/paypal-north-carolina-lgbt/index.html

CNN/by David Goldman   April 5, 2016: 12:22 PM ET

"North Carolina's "bathroom bill" just cost the state 400 future jobs.

PayPal has canceled its plans to open a new global operations center in Charlotte, following passage of a North Carolina law that prevents cities from creating non-discrimination policies based on gender identity. "

I'm glad to see some businesses stepping up with more than just talk. This is what we need!

Bruce Springsteen also canceled the concert he was supposed to put on in NC the other day.

I've seen some people questioning if the cancelled concert, and probably this and other similar moves, accomplish anything. Personally it makes me incredibly happy to hear. The anti-lgbt voices are loud and well-represented, but the friendly ones aren't always so prominent. Sometimes it's easy to forget not everyone is ruled by ignorance, fear, and hatred.

All mimsy were the borogoves,
And the mome raths outgrabe.

Other than copy paste articles in the online news sources, what has been going on in the USA re Bathrooms has not received any mainstream media attention here in the UK.  That was until the Boss cancelled his Gig and it was mentioned on Saturday's BBC breakfast TV news.

Ok so in typical BBC fashion the screwed up the trans aspect horribly and also focused on the striking down of the anti LGBT discrimination ordinances with an uncomfortable mention and messed up reference to the bathroom issues.

I also don't receive any trans stuff on my old facebook account, the last thing was the meme of Caitlin in her Porsche, but i did see one of my friends like the Boss's statement on FB.  So i think things like that do have an effect, its probably minor, but to change public opinion will take lots of tiny nudges, the more people hear that these things are not ok and from sources they respect and are somewhat impartial is only a good thing.
