You really have to wonder where this insane hatred comes from.
I think I'm going to rant for a while on the subject 'cause I'm bored, pay no attention!
I think it's a combination of paternalistic sexism (notice how he said men's room vs girl's room), a perceived threat to their masculinity (giving up being a male to try and be a female? preposterous!), and possibly a threat to their sexuality (if they're attracted to a trans-woman but still consider that person male). When they feel that any of these 3 things are under threat they respond in one of the few ways they know how, with violence.
To go deeper into that mentality, and at the risk of projecting my own issues onto them, they've been told who they're supposed to be, who they're supposed to love, and how they're supposed to act, for their entire lives. To introduce free thinking to them, or to give them that level of agency over their own lives, would create too much potential for regret. Regret in how they've treated innocent people in the past, wasted time being who they don't want to be, or avoided something that would otherwise be important to them. It would introduce the possibility that they're an awful person, and it would put their soul at risk of eternal damnation.
Ever tried to have a discussion with one of these kinds of people about morality? They simply can't comprehend how anybody can be moral without basing that morality on the ten commandments or similar religious doctrines. Or, at the very least, the rule of law (drugs are bad, mmmkay? they're bad because they're illegal, and they're illegal because they're bad), because they've allowed themselves to be told how to think their entire lives. Evidence or experienced based world views are dangerous to them, and anybody who doesn't share their views and adopt them through the same methods are necessarily immoral. And so why would an immoral person want to use the women's bathroom? For no good reason, that's why. Deviancy is the only possible explanation for them.
If you were to start tugging at any of the 3 threads I listed at the beginning of this rant you'll completely unravel a person like him. The older they are the more difficult it becomes to face reality from the sort of brainwashing they've endured, the more baggage there is, and the less likely they are to apply any amount of critical thinking to their lives. They'll go to the grave first, which is why we basically just have to wait for them to die out.
I think they can make limited concessions in some cases, basically compartmentalizing doing the right thing yet maintaining their twisted world-view, if someone they really love creates a moral dilemma for them. Sometimes they'll react even worse because the threat hits so much closer to home, but there is the potential for a "freedom for me but not for thee" style mentality (well it's okay if my family member has an abortion because it's a special circumstance, but nobody else should be able to) or even allow a single, narrowly defined view to evolve a bit (well my daughter is a lesbian, which I guess is sort of okay. I mean, gay people are still gross but I guess as long as they're not hurting anyone).
And there you have the modern day bigot and how they rationalize that bigotry. Or at least, that's what -I- think is going on.
Here's some pretty music
