Hello, Ladies and Gentlemen,

I have been transitioning from MTF on and off through HRT, electrolysis since my latter 20's (I am now 36-years-old) and more ramping up my effeminate ways in my identity as a gay male, but with my most recent move to Minneapolis, Minnesota, and having such strong support from the community and my husband, I feel more empowered than ever to transition.

As of this past week, I saw a medical doctor who has prescribed my Spironolactone and Estrodial, and this has really accelerated my efforts to transition (selecting a therapist, laser hair removal, etc.), but I still don't feel complete; I feel confused and wondering where to start  ???

I have researched all the websites and books out there, but I still don't feel like I have a starting point. I am more than open and welcome to feedback from Susan's Place community on what did -- or did not -- work for them when they truly began to see transition as a way of life rather than a fleeting thought.

It is my hope that this brief introduction has provided you with a little insight into my and my disjointed journey from male to womanhood. Please leave any and all questions or comments you'd like.

Brightest Blessings

Welcome to the forum! There's no real starting point to transition, there are many points that one can kick off from which is why it can feel like such a disjointed process. That said it sounds as if you have most of the bases covered. If you haven't started thinking about your wardrobe or presentation in female mode they would be worth considering.

Welcome to Susan's Place. This is a good place to come for help because the number of users a day on the site can run 700 a day. If you have a question, somebody will likely have an answer. In addition there is about 10 years worth of posts on the server providing a huge resource to draw from. The transition is complicated because there are many small steps to deal with. When I transitioned, I knew almost nothing and had it not been for a therapy group, my transition would have been greatly delayed. Feel free to ask any questions you have and we will do our best to answer them.

Thank you all so kindly for your words of welcome.

I will say that I resonate with what everyone seems to echo: transition has no starting point; you just sort of dive in and hope to float.

I did just purchase a Kindle book called "The Transgender Guidebook: Keys to a Successful Transition" by Anne L. Bedecked, PhD.

Has anyone ever heard of it or used it -- at minimum -- as a stepping stone to their transition?

Like all other journeys it's all about where you want to go and what you want to do.

As long as I was moving forwards I was content.
On reflection there are things I could have started sooner but it might not have been as fun.

In no particular order this is/was my list which is probably not much use to you but here it is.

Lose weight (I was BIG or to be more accurate "he" was /whisper over 106kg Jan'15)
Start growing hair
Start full body laser
Electrolysis after laser
Eyebrow threading and dying
Eyelash tinting
Dye hair (Love Tempting Chocolate - Thank you Schwartzkopf)
Skin care routine
Speech therapy
Hormones
Psych stuff (need the reports later)
Change name and documents (to prove RLE later)
Pinkifying my universe
Get on the GIC list (12 month wait in Glasgow)

Lots and lots of shopping once body closer to what I wanted (it's close enough now another 4kg and I might stop)

After more thought I can say yeah it definitely wouldn't have been as much fun all at once as my own vanity would have killed me.

Steps I only take when it seems right for me the mirror kinda reminds me of my limits.

Back on topic it's all your call go as fast and in as many directions as you want at once it's all for you after all.
Nobody else to answer to.

Enjoy :)

Hi Princess, welcome to Susan's Place! I live near Boston. Get busy posting, your contributions added to the ten years worth that Dena mentioned are what makes this site such a special resource.  :)  See you around!
