After coming out to my sister, I showed her a video of myself

Her remarks were that I looked so happy!

I wasn't expecting that comment from her!

On reflection she was right about my transitioning - I did look happy because I was happy! And it showed!

Sometimes it takes someone else to notice that simple truth - that many of us are happier when we are transitioning:D

Did anyone notice that about us  - our happiness levels increasing ?

Did we notice our rising levels of joy/happiness ?
Was it us or someone else who pointed it out to us?
What's your experience?

After I started on hormones I started spontaneously smiling at myself in the mirror, for the first time since puberty -- and I am 53 years old.

My family said that I was just generally much happier after I came out, even though I didn't really think that I was doing anything differently! But yeah I do notice that I interact with other people more willingly and positively now, which completely goes against how everyone defined me before!

I have definitely been more happy since I came out and started transitioning. You can really see it if you compare a picture pre-transtion to a picture of now. I am even more willing to talk to people and interact without fear of being caught. It's like a huge weight being lifted from your shoulders because now you can just be you. I actually can look at myself in the mirror now and smile and think "Yeah, you go girl, this is what I've always wanted." :)

I am definitely not out at work, but its being noticed. My productivity is up, and my interactions with others is far above what it was before I started transitioning. I even feel so much more happy now. I know that I will have to come out eventually, but it doesn't bother me at all if it is discovered.

Update: I am going to my first group meeting, and of all the luck, there will be a co worker there. I have known about him,( ftm), for a while. Looks like I am going to be found out a bit earlier than expected. But I am finding my self not really caring if someone knows. I am happy that I found a group close by.

Ah man, this is confusing, I'm feeling a strange mixture of happiness for you who are finally happy, and a lot of depression for myself.

I've had a number of people at my church say that I look a lot more relaxed and more like myself since I've come out.  And happier, too.

I guess it's to be expected: having to censor yourself all the time whenever you're around other people is pretty stressful.  There are even times when I enjoy being myself now (imagine that!)

Oh my yes. It's been only a week since I came out publicly and just about everyone I know says I'm more alive or something. One friend I had coffee with said I talked more to her in one evening than I have since I've known her!

I certainly feel happier. A monstrous weight has been lifted from my shoulders. I actually care about stuff now; i'm not just going through the motions.

My friends and family noticed my smile right away when I told them of my new path in life... I had sent my aunt some pics of the new me and when we visited she had a stack of pics of the old me over the years to compare and contrast... Barely a smile I the old stack.... Life is good!!!!

I have found that I am much more relaxed about myself. I haven't exactly come out and said I am transgender, but I don't hide it much any more. I figure someone will find out eventually, but who cares. My performance at work has changed drastically for the better, enough so I am getting a merit raise. Those are very hard to get by the way. I think that my coming out has changed me for the better and my work proves that. So If my co-workers found out today, they would know that it has made me a better more productive person.
