Hey again Cait! :) I'm currently waiting for a consult sometime in July with Dr. Ting, but in the meantime I figured I should probably start genital electrolysis now rather than wait for the consult. You'd suggest going with Yuki Arai at Mount Sinai? Do you know how I could get in touch with her? And last question, sorry for the barrage, are you getting the electrolysis covered by your Medicaid? As I understand it Medicaid is supposed to cover the cost of genital electrolysis but I don't know how to make that happen.

Hi Massi,

I do recommend Yuki for electrolysis because she addressed all my concerns and questions, and was very methodical during the session I had with her.  I had the electrolysis session at Dr Ting's office. I'm gonna try to get Fidelis or HealthFirst, if I switch to the latter, cover the cost of the follow-up electrolysis sessions.

Please feel free to ask me more questions.

Sincerely,

Cait

P.S. Just to let you know, I sent you a private message.

Sincerely,

Caitlyn

Hi Caitlyn, I live in NYC as well. I am having my SRS in less than a week with McGinn, and now I have stopped doing SRS on my lower half for the moment. Hearing you talk about electro at Mt. Sinai with Yuki sounds better than what I have endured. Do they numb with injections for the treatments since it is at a hospital. I would be very much interested in finding out more, since I would like to continue with it after I heal from surgery. I too have a very low pain threshold, and was trying to do 6 hours at once in the beginning so that I could cover a lot of ground in one sitting. If you could offer any info at all that would be great.

I remember reading that Dr. Z's office offers it with twightlight anesthesia.   I think that would be the way to go.  Ive had twightlight for epidurals and didnt feel a thing.

Hi Fashionite,

Yes, I got numbed before having electrolysis. I had numbing cream and a few local injections administered remarkably the day before my electrolysis session. The reason why I received the injections the day before having electrolysis was because Dr. Ting was unavailable the day of the electrolysis. Since almost 24 hrs had elapsed, I did not feel very numb the morning of my electrolysis session and felt minor pain/discomfort during the session. Taking this into consideration, Yuki worked at 3/4ths setting. My session lasted approximately one to one and a half hours. Yuki said that the next time I have electrolysis I can have the numbing cream and injections administered the same day. Therefore, she can work longer and at a higher setting and cover more area. I hope that this information is helpful.

Please let me know if you have any other questions and I will try to answer them.

Sincerely,

Caitlyn

Hi Caitlyn, I am so happy to have Yuki in my life now! After I read your comment, I googled her (She works at New York Electrolysis Office privately besides with Dr. Ting) and contact her private office (cuz I won't have SRS with Dr.Ting), and got consultation and treatment with her. She is so top of everything- knowledge, bed side manner, technique.. EVERYTHING! I was amazed her skills (much faster than any other my previous electrologist!)and love her so much (her personality is over the top-very care and feel be there for me all the time!!) Seems she has lots of Trans patients (I saw some trans models in her office!!) Can't Thank enough for the recommendation!! BTW, here is her private office info (in case anyone get in touch with her);www.nyelectrolysis.nyc
get response very quick by email from them. The office email is at nyelectrolysis@gmail.com
She is super busy lady and hard to get her appointment... seems her office manager(?) take care of everything include her scheduling. Yuki is a highly regarded person!

Hi Leilahlalah,

You are welcome. Yay, I'm glad that having electrolysis with Yuki worked out for you. You helped me too. Thank you for Yuki's work email address. I will be contacting NYC Electrolysis soon to find out how much they charge for a facial electrolysis session.
Sincerely,

Caitlyn

Hi Caitlyn, That's nice ;) I tried to reply to your personal message but I couldn't see where to do.. ( I am not really good at these things..) and I don't think I can write in here as a public forum.. so I would recommend to contact to the her office email address? I am sure they will let you know. But you should mentioned you know her/ referred by Dr. (name)  or (her current patients). I heard she is not taking new patients unless they were referred by Drs or person she knows... in any case, you can use my name but you had treatment with her at Dr. Ting's so should be fine. good luck!
