Hi everyone,

I'm not sure if this has been discussed before or not, but, I was wondering what sort of body measurement changes you've had whilst you've been on HRT. I'm mainly interested in hips, waist, chest, shoulders and bust, but if anyone has had any height changes or shoe size changes that would be interesting to hear as well.

I ask because one thing I have particular dysphoria about is how broad I am, particularly my ribcage. I am thankful that I have relatively wide hips in comparison to my body, but I still hate how wide I am.

My current measurements are:
Hips- 41 inches
Waist- 35 inches
Chest- 39 inches.

How could I expect this to change on HRT?

Thank you,
PBP

I know that (in most cases) people expand as they gain weight due to hormones. I am one of the rare exceptions, in that I am still at my high school weight at 50 years old.

My current measurements are:
Hips- 40 inches
Waist- 32 inches
Chest- 36 inches
Height 5' 10"
BMI- 23

I often heard talk about hormones creating a "pear" shaped body, and I have seen this in many MTFs.
started HRT: July 13, 1991
orchi: December 23, 1994
trach shave: November, 1998
married: August 16, 2015
Back surgery: October 20, 2016

Do you know how those measurements differ to pre-HRT?

I would love a pear shaped body though. One thing I am very dysphoric about is my figure

Im getting a pear shape, but I have broad shoulders, so its working to my benefit. I needed to lose some shoulder width and needed hips... Im getting it at 4 months in. My side rolls are melting into my hips and my spare tire is smoothing into them as well... so my belly is moving towards the center, rather than all the way across. Under my boobs has shrunk drastically... but my boobs look much bigger, but really arent. My upper legs are filling out also, I used to have fat roll at the top of my leg too.... and that is expanding with my thighs, so its going away in a sense

Im thrilled with how its progressing, I dance a couple hours a day... so I know that helps and keeps me from gaining much

Did you maybe mean "hourglass" shaped body? "Pear" shape isnt possible for MTF person due to masculinized bone structure. Women with "pear" shape have narrow shoulders, small and narrow ribcage and wide hips (significantly wider than shoulders). Hourglass is possible for those MTF people who are genetically lucky to have small narrow ribcage, and wide pelvis, which along with feminine pattern fat deposition, makes hips about as wide as shoulders, while having narrow waist. Most MTF have either rectangle body shape (due to large ribcage) or inverted triangle body shape (due to broad shoulders).

I have never seen MTF with pear shape body.

As for the question:

now (5 years later)
32" underbust
29" waist
42" hips
at 5' 11"

before hormones...
30-31" waist
40" hips
(I dont remember about underbust)
No change in height

Well, your ribcage won't change, because your ribs are made of bone, and that's not going to change on HRT.  What does change though, are your shoulders.  I haven't taken measurements, and I personally didn't notice, but a number of my friends said that my shoulders were looking slimmer.  I guess with the loss of muscle mass from HRT, the muscles around my shoulders became smaller, taking away the look of broad shoulders.  It wasn't something that I expected as I didn't really have broad shoulders to begin with, but I thought it was interesting that a lot of other people noticed it.
