Been ages since I last posted so thought I'd give an update on the progression I've made in the last few months. I think last time I posted I was just beginning therapy, since then I've:

-Been referred to the Gender Identity Clinic, after my therapist agreed 100% that I was Trans.

-Started to drop the name Tim, and taken my new name Taryn.

-Begun to regularly attend a Trans support group, where I've made many new friends.

-Come out to my close family and friends, all of whom have been accepting.

-Been accepted completely by my parents, to the extent that my Mum has offered to fund my treatment if I feel I need to go private, while waiting for the NHS.

-Begun to replace my wardrobe with female clothing (about 50% done so far).

-Began to wear make up on a regular basis, mostly nail polish and eye liner just now.

So, yeah, there's been a lot of progression in the last three months. It's been nothing but positive so far, and I'm aware of just how lucky I've been in that regard. :)

Thanks everyone.  ;D

Whenever I feel like being on the Gender Clinic waiting list is stalling my transition, I take a look at that list and realise how far I've come in such a short period of time.

Received my first letter from the Gender Clinic today, confirming I'm on the waiting list for the Chalmers Centre in Edinburgh.  ;D

An interesting note on the Chalmer's Centre website:

'Is facial feminisation surgery available from the clinic?

We do not currently have funding for facial feminisation surgery within NHS Lothian, however we hope to resolve this later this year.'

England does not, to my knowledge, offer FFS for free on the NHS, but it's amazing that Scotland is hoping to do so. Everything I've heard from other Trans people indicated that the Scottish Gender Service is better than the English one, so it's lucky I live four miles north of the border.  ;)

Thank you. Long way to go yet,  but I feel like I'm actually on the path now. :)

Another baby step taken last night - first time shaving under my arms. Not a very big thing, I know, but another step in the right direction nevertheless.

Also, I decided to check the updated waiting times for Chalmers Gender Clinic(for which I'm on the waiting list). They got through three months worth of back log last month, so the waiting time is now down from 12 months to around 10 months.  ;D

And things have suddenly gotten a whole lot better.

Tonight I received a message from the Gender Clinic saying 'If you have been referred to us from April 2016 onwards, we expect to offer you an appointment within 6 months.'

As I was referred at the beginning of June, I've suddenly had six months knocked off my waiting time. :) :) :)

And now I have a date for my first GIC appointment - 20th of October. Considering I was only referred in June that's really quite fast.

It's really exciting, but also a little scary cos now it's starting to feel real.  :o

Thanks everybody. :)

I must admit that as my first appointment draws closer my mood seems to be wildly up and down. One day I'm really excited at how close it is now, and the next day I'm suffering from some of the worst dysphoria about my appearance that I've ever had.

Megan.

T90, I'll be at the CX GIC on 20-Oct for my second assessment. Good luck with yours.
