I transitioned openly at my old job, I had worked with some of the people there for close to twenty years. When the business closed I decided to make a fresh start somewhere where I would not be working with people that knew me before. So I put my house up for sale and took a job that's over a hundred miles away from the old one.
I have been working for a week at the new place and everyone has been super nice. It is really amazing not to be dead named or misgenderd even if it was not intentional. Funny thing is its doing something like what I did when I started in electronics 30 years ago, its it's like I get sort of a do over as I had given serious thought to transitioning back then. So now I am living at my moms house again doing a similar job as when I was younger but this time I get to do it all as me. Sure I am older but I feel better now than I have ever felt in my life, I even weigh less now than when I started high school.
