So, I have been shaving my legs for quite some time and I'm tired of the nicks, cuts, and razor burn. As a MTF, I'm lucky that I have very little body hair, but still have some leg hair. So, I decided to try Nair, which I researched a long time ago and decided against it. WOW ... it rocks, for me. I get some have had bad experiences which is why for years I never tried it. But, I finally did and at least for me, it took all the hair, and no razor burn, nicks or cuts! My legs look awesome! :) Just an FYI if like me you had been turned off by past reports on the product. I suggest if you try it, do a small test area first to make sure you don't have any reactions. Throwing my razors away!

You know, I've been a bit bugged by how long it takes me to shave my legs after starting a few weeks ago: I have to make several passes with an electric shaver, because I never had a normal razor or anything like that growing up without any real parental guidance.  I've been thinking of just buying some depilatory cream and knocking out of the way like that...  Last time I tried that on my face, it didn't really break up the hair like it was supposed to, but maybe I'll give it another go...

Which of the many Nair products did you use for your legs?

I used Nair years ago after shaving my legs as an amateur racing cyclist for a few years.  I used to be pretty quick and rarely nicked myself, but wanted to see if there was an easier way.

How do you get away from the smell of it?  It worked well enough, but everyone knew I used it and even after sweating through a race and showering we could still smell it...

Glad it's working for you. Tried it years ago , couldn't stand the smell and a week later the ingrown hairs were horrible.

Veet works better and doesn't smell or burn like Nair does, me and my wife found that at Walmart.

Princess, don't use Nair on your face!

Jessica, I'm using Nair "Softening Baby Oil."

I really didn't have an odor problem after use. After i removed the product and hair, I rinsed in the shower really well, and after drying applied some Jergens skin lotion.

I know these types of products don't work for all, which is why I waited so long to try it, and I'll post if any problems appear over the next several days.  :)

When I have a few spare bucks extra I really enjoy going to get my legs waxed.  Its lasts a while, isn't that painful, is private, and feels fantastic.  I prefer European Wax Center, I tried going for one that was a bit less once and will never make that mistake again.  Just my two cents on hair removal.
Sincerely,
Kassandra or Kass.

...why not?  That's where tried it before, and aside from being ineffective, it didn't hurt me or anything...

Strange, but for me one of the small benefits of being over 60 is that genetically I seem to produce far, far less leg hair. I used to have more leg hair, but very little now other than just under my knee cap. I have a very easy time shaving the rest off. My trouble instead is varicose veins. Win some, lose some.
But I do believe I still have rather nice legs. Now if only the skin below my chin on my neck wasn't so loose.

I was always having to shave my legs and just got sick of it.

Laser

No regrowth, odd hares left but easily dealt with.
No stubble no nasty creams or pain of waxing.
Smooth as silk and the only way to go.

Had 4-5 treatments and never looked back
No more Neanderthal legs for me.
So long and thanks for all the fish

VERY happy with laser.  Before I started my laser treatments, I tried various chemical methods but always came back to my epilator.  I got that really nice smooth feel without the mess of shaving, waxing or "Nairing." I'm not sure why depilating never gets as many mentions, but it might be worth a try.

Dayta, do you have a brand of epilator you recommend?  I've looked into it before, and I can't remember why I decided against it.

No matter(no laser or Electrolysis yet) what I use, I always feel stubbly afterwards.  I'm hoping that HRT will help make the hairs a bit finer so they aren't so scratchy after I'm done shaving, Nairing, or waxing.

i use either wax, veet or a shaver

I no longer shave or wax after treating my legs with Tria home laser a few years ago.
Shaving and Nair can cause ingrowth of hair, which can be painful and cause pimples.

I am considering another Tria as the battery of the Tria was already dead and I need to remove hairs in my bikini area and a few remaining hairs in my body.

Just do it.

I was using a Braun Silk Epil Xelle (not sure which generation it is, we bought it about a year and a half ago, I think).  I haven't picked it up in a while, as I have maybe 2 more laser sessions or so.  But it gives a great feel without the muss and fuss.  Good luck!

You know, I've been thinking of doing this myself: I have very pale skin and very dark hairs...  Anyone else here think it's a good choice?
