Had my first real session.  Had 5 minutes of demo at free consultation appointment last week but not counting that.  Had an hour.  A little puffy right now but no pain.  Wasn't too bad while it was happening but could tell the times she went off the area I had put the lidocaine on.  I'll be more thorough with that next session.  I could tell where she had worked.  Long way to go but have started. Yay!

Good for you - facial hair and shaving are really a significant hurdle to get beyond. When you start noticing that you're smoother and have less shadow you will feel amazingly feminine!

You may want to try knocking down neck hair and sideburns with a good laser spa to lessen electrolysis time.

Just got back from my first full hour too, top lip almost cleared 😊. Had eight laser sessions last year which reduced things, and should make electro move quicker.

Have lighter hair so not sure how well laser will work for me. Was thinking of trying a home device for some of the body hair so might give that a try on the neck.  The expensive ones say you can use on the face.  More research needed before I buy though.

Lucky you. Laser isn't an option for me, so i'm trudging through twice-weekly sessions. I did find a nice deal for 5% lidocaine which is best for the work on my lip and chin. However, after 10 sessions, i'm no where close to being done with my first clearing. <sigh>

I did laser over a year ago and I should warn you that there can be significant regrowth of dark hairs.
This happened to me starting at about one year later and then carrying on for 6 months which was how long I did laser for.
I then started electrolysis last July.
To date I have over 100 hours of treatment and have never reached a point of being 'cleared'. So believe me it takes ages to get facial hair down to even 50% clear.
At this point almost all the dark hairs are gone and now its the white ones which are mostly on the neck. The neck area is slower work because of the looser skin and the multi directional hair growth.
Taking pain killers 30 minutes before treatment can be helpful along with the indispensable Lidocaine.
I don't see how anyone can get away without electrolysis, it is the most dependable treatment.
A blended system is best and that's what one should be looking for if buying a unit.

Laser wasn't a final solution for me. I still had an atrocious amount of electro. But it did take out the darker hairs. About a week later they just fell out of my skin! After that I didn't have to use nearly as much foundation. What came back was sparse and not in sync so it was manageable.

But oh the pain! Trial by fire, repeatedly, and paying for the privilege!

I've had 3 one hour sessions so far. After the  last one she suggested I also look into laser to help speed things along.   I hope to have a consult on that next week.  I know it takes a long time but I want it all gone right now.  I'll be happy enough about it when I don't have to shave first thing in the morning so as not to see that man staring back at me from the mirror.

Yay! Good for you!  I can't even remember how many hours I had (10 or 20?). starting with zapping only the gray hairs, before I had my first full clearing.  It was kind of amazing how much difference just getting rid of grays makes.  If you can get to one of the places where they work using injected anesthetic it's so worth it. Congrats on a big step.

So had consult with laser place today and set up appointment for  2 weeks to have my first go.    Could have had a treatment today except I didn't shave this morning as only thing I saw on their website was shave the day before.  Where was all this hair when I  was still pretending to be male and wanting it to grow?

Anyway would love to hear from anyone who has had both at the same time and how long after a laser treatment that you can do electrolysis?

Electrologist thought 2 weeks, the laser people didn't know of any time needed to wait.  Only thing she brought up was the possibility of electrologist zapping hair that the laser already got. So that might be the two weeks so that those have fallen out.

My plan in doing both was to have electrolysis concentrate on the lighter colored hairs.

Appreciate anyone input or experience.

Thanks

I don't know if I'd try to stack electrolysis and laser on the same area.  I've tried both now on various spots, and I think mixing them might just make it more ambiguous as to which was being more effective.  I'm currently doing concurrent facial electrolysis and laser body hair removal, and am seeing good results in each case.  My laser and electrolysis folks both recommend against using other hair removal methods concurrently, although those recommendations could be self-serving.  More likely just cautious, I suspect.

How about one directly  after the other...I did...1 hour session on the face followed up by a though zapping with the laser......ouch ouch ouch ocuh is all I can say...only did it once. Bearing in mind you need length for Electrolysis and short for Laser.

I have both by the same technician...I am out to 8 weeks with my next laser one after this probably more like 12-16 weeks away. I have been having laser for over as year now and I have not had any significant re growth...new growth has been much finer and sparse which also gets zapped with each treatment. In in fact much of it was so fine it was hard to see with out a magnifying glass.

Give it about a week or as long as it takes for your facial hair to grow for Electrolysis. That's how I used to work it.

One day of not shaving has been good enough for electrolysis so far.  There are enough light colored hairs so laser may not change that for those. Was hoping to get two electrolysis session in between the 4 week apart  laser treatments.
