Hello!!

My name is Asher and I'm a 22 year old trans man from Arizona. I've only recently come out as of early July and I'm still figuring a lot of stuff out about myself. I have a very supportive significant other who identifies as NB and supportive family members, for whom I'm very thankful for. I'm about to graduate from my university this winter with a degree in psychology and looking to study clinical psych in Toronto within the next couple of years. I also draw quite a lot and do digital commissions in my spare time (most of my art is anime fan art, but I'm willing to draw almost anything, let me know if you're interested in seeing my work!). The only major change I have taken in my life thus far towards my transition is getting my name legally changed this last week. I haven't made a lot of changes and currently do not 'pass', aka a lot of the steps I want to take are still ahead of me and the road is very confusing thus far.

I made this account because I have a lot of questions about myself and would like to hear feedback and experiences from others. I think it'd help lessen the general lost feeling I have!! I was recommended this site from a friend of mine who is also a trans man. I'm very friendly and supportive so feel free to talk to me!

Nice to meet you! :)

Welcome to Susan's Place. I am also from Arizona in the Phoenix area so get ready for the rain. In any case, you may post anywhere on the site you wish but for FTM related questions, you will find you will get more responses if you post in the FTM area as that's where the guys tend to hang out. If you have any question I can answer, let me know.

We issue to all new members the following links so you will best be able to use the web site.

Hello and welcome!  I'd love to see some of your artwork as well as discuss anything that's on your mind.  In my experience, the most helpful thing is to talk to others and see in what ways our struggles are alike; that takes it out of your head so you have a real tangible issue to deal with instead of just feeling crazy.  Glad you're here!  [emoji1]

Welcome! The Transitioning forum has quite a few subforums that can help in terms of navigating the early stages of transition (coming out, therapy, HRT, legal updates, etc.). Like Dena said, you'll also probably get a lot more relevant responses to anything transition related in the specific FTM board and subforums. Congrats on the name change!

Thank you all, it's a pleasure! I look forward to the conversations I'll have here and hopefully work through some of my confusion (and help others too??). For posting the link to my artwork, it has some NSFW stuff in it so I don't want to link it out necessarily, sorry. I was gonna message it to people who ask when I reach that goal.

Hi Asher,   Very nice to meet you and welcome!  There are many nice folks here to share with!  I did a paper on using art in therapy but that was many years ago when I was working on my degree in psych.too. Being into art is what got me through much in my life, then I became a graphic designer to pay the bills and the student loans [emoji53][emoji51]but If your coming to Toronto to study clinical psychology I think you might be aware of the CAMH! its great place! well take care! dont forget to bring a warm coat! lol Julie

Hi, Asher!

I'm sure you'll find plenty of support here, as well as being able to read posts on other threads on subjects of interest.

I'm only partial transmale, living as an androgyne.
