Hey Girls, and Guys.
We often have roles and likes that we have based on our birth sex, mines was always cars.
Japanese cars of the 80's and 90's.
Some of us shake these as we wish to be more involved in passtimes and interests that match out gender indentity.
Im curious do many of you wish to loose your old ways, or have you lost them unwillingly, likey they became boring and dull to you after transition?

I am nearly 5 months on full dose HRT and I am still obsessed, :3
I own a 1999 Supra RZ, 6 speed twin turbo.
And I am saving for a R34 GTR, hopefully Vspec II

Are any of you girls into cars? Especially Japanese?
And I'm curious about you guys too, have you become obsessed with cars? Or have you always been obsessed?

I used to wrench on cars, and did all my own vehicle maintenance on our cars.  I have a little 2000 Miata that I have kept in great shape.

Since coming out, though, I've lost access to my garage space and some tools, having moved to a small condo. The HOA prohibits working on cars in the shared garage space, probably wise since I've seen how some shade tree mechanics treated their property.  That means I can't really work on cars any more.

This in turn has made me stop back and think about why I did that.  The cost savings?  Maybe, although I could afford to have things serviced professionally.  Lack of trust in my fellow man might have a part, as I've been ripped off in the distant past by pro mechanics and garages.  Being a manly man doing manly things?  Yeah, that's in there too, although I was driving a Miata, not generally considered a macho vehicle.

I find that I really am losing interest in doing this, and even owning the Miata.  I can't really drive with the top down for fear of losing my hair (I wear wigs), as well as a chronic skin cancer issue.  I can't wrench on it any more, for reasons I gave previously, plus my aging and loss of upper body strength with HRT would make that harder on me.

I probably should do the rational thing and trade it in for some econobox.  Goddess, that feels like surrendering, though.
Earth my body, water my blood, air my breath and fire my spirit.

My personal transition path included medical changes.  The path others take may require no medical intervention, or different care.  We each find our own path. I provide these dates for the curious.

I find I shrink from doing manly things more and more. If only because it wreaks such havoc on my nails. After I spend so much time on them.

I am obsessed with my Nissan Leaf. I have never owned a sports car. However I found two things:

-I am pretty ecologically minded and believe that voting with ones money is the change I can make around me

-the pick up in that car is stupid fun. I have left a few astonished sports car owners way behind.

I am sure most serious drivers would not even think of it as competition and that's fine. I just like it and think it is the coolest, cutest car.

Michelle I was told that the Miata was a favorite among ladies who like a good, fast sports car. Maybe keep it if you can afford others working on it...

With warmth,

Joanna

The Miata was always a good drivers car, small light and responsive.
Loosing the space does obviously take away the space to work on em too, quiet annoying :/
We will see do you part ways with you Miata Michelle.
Joanna, your leaf is abit on the cute side, I wonder do you treated it like people from the car scene would, do you consider modding it for looks and performance?
And yes damaging nails could be abit annoying but it won't stop me Jane Emily

I'm really curious is ther anyone really in the scene!
Like anyone in the tunner scene?

Any Female to Males out ther who have become interested?

I'm not that into cars. I love bikes mostly.

I've driven lots of different cars and took a year to travel off road through Australia in 4WD years ago, and fixed it in true bush machiaic way.

I too drove a 2000 MX5 (Miata) I bought myself the 2.0l GT auto 2016 model as a get well gift. I had to very reluctantly not buy the manual as my right foot no longer works after chemo so I can't use a gear shift. But it is so responsive I do not regret it.

It is gorgeous, and no I doubt I could do any work on it anymore and I have rebuilt a Toyota 4wd land cruiser rear diff in the middle of nowhere in the Aussie outback.

I'm really into cars. I've had a wide range of them, foreign and domestic. My current daily is a BMW 335i, which I absolutely LOVE!

Guess one can say I'm obsessed with my Mazda 2016 Miata. Purchased the high end model then added custom springs, anti-sway bars and high end tires which in total was 3,000 USD on top of the cost of the car. I'm always looking for the next cool turn in the road or excuse to drive for hours e.g. to the coast just for the drive but will hit the local tavern and enjoy the sights too.

Every Saturday when it's not raining I drive some fairly adventurous roads where one say 15 MPH turns, down hill we take them at 40 MPH without breaking. Safe to say this is not for the faint of heart. We've had several people go for a run with us and afterwards said that some of us are crazy while I'd say we are not crazy but instead good skilled drivers.

In regards to tinkering with the internals or engine, not for me, it's not like 20 or 30 years ago when I would not blink an eye to get dirty or scrape my knuckles and have fun at the same time. Today it's nearly impossible.

I really wanted red at first but fell in love with black.

I think the only mod I would perform would be retrofitting the newer batteries with much higher capabilities into my model (couple years old). If I could put a Tesla battery in, I would. As I said, while it may not be everyone's esthetic, I love the look. Even more so than the newer ones where they tempered some angles of the form.

Warmly,

Joanna

I love my cars still but starting to fall out of love with working on them (it's not very sexy when you have greasy hands) but I still do work on things. When I was younger I was really into the j-body scene and still own my supercharged z24 which i only use to autocross now. My problem is I have too many toys still. I have my boat, quad (my sons too) my trailer and my 1 ton to tow it all around.  I still have my interests I have just added a few new ones is all

If I had the time, I might be able to be a bit more obsessive as I was in my youth. The halcyon days of having time, but little money. I owned several iterations of Datsun Z cars, after a stretch of building and street racing muscle cars. Today the closest thing to a real car I have is a Porsche 928, in need of freeing up the left rear rotor that is dragging thanks to a non-sliding caliper. And then on the opposite side of the spectrum was my VW Rabbit with over 350K on it. I was hoping for more but my wife made me get rid of it after the windshield cracked for the 3rd time.

I still try to do a lot of my own maintenance, in guy mode. Long hair and a skirt makes it difficult to replace the rear universal joint in the Blazer or doing brakes. Oh, and finding a mechanic that can actually diagnose and do the job right....

I love Japanese cars from the 80's and 90's too! I've done quite a bit of work on my quite rare Japanese rear wheel drive turbo coupe when I had the time and money. I won't mention the exact model as I don't want Google to pick it up.

I don't think my interest in these cars will ever really change but I couldn't afford spending money on car things in the last few years, I have to fix my life first. Until then I drive them in simulators.
I have quite serious plans for at least two cars. I'd like to build one stripped out track car for a bit of drifting and track days and restore another to full original glory and use it for trips around the continent.

I found the responses really fun to read and really insightful.
Some nice cars here!
I am really suprised the amount of Miatas, lol. At this rate, I'd qlguess anyone driving a Miata should contact a therapist to see if they are trans, haha I'm obvs joking :')
Its pretty crazy to see you role a bike Saira, that I wasn't expecting atall.
And Joanne the Z cars are amaizing, the 300zx and the 370z being my favourites of them.
And Lynne a very rare car indeed, I seen one once or twice for sale online thats it.

I'm a biker chick...lol..
We don't have good roads here, and  I don't even want to start with the traffic. Finding a  parking spot in the city, is like chasing after wind.
My dad on the other hand, is more of a car person. He drives a bmw 520d something something...( don't know if thats the complete name). I don't really know if it is a good car or not, I personally think it takes too much space in our garage.

But I can assure you, in a city, my bike is the one that takes me fastest from point A to point B.

You must be having great roads in the US. Enjoy your cars you petrolheads.
I have never ever been to the US. How is it there?
Are all the people friendly and open minded like you ladies?

Wish I had kept my Mustang. Same '71 Mach I James Bond drove in one of his earlier movies.

Next car I wish I'd kept was '74 Celica GT. Brand new off showroom floor was only $4,000+

Do NOT like new cars, would never spend for one!!

When started commuting to the airline(s) bought an '84 Rabbit GTI!!

"But it's no use now," thought poor Alice, "to pretend be two people!
"Why, there's hardly enough of me left to make one respectable person!"

Liked the 6 cylinder Toyotas & Datsuns from the early 70s when it came to Japanese cars. Was more into American muscle cars from the 60s & the big 6 cylinder British Fords & Vauxhalls.
Had 3 Triumphs & a BSA & went back to riding again early this year, ride a  blackHarley Sportster 883R & love it. Have had Progressive suspension fork springs & rear shocks fitted for my weight & a comfortable seat

With the average Rice-Rocket it's city, county, state.... provided there isn't any snow

Wow, great cars, I'm not suprised you are sorry that you did not keep them!

I mostly feel the same way about new cars, there are only a couple of exceptions, like the new Miata and the new Nissan GT-R or the new Lexus LC500h, but if I had to buy one of these I'd probably go for the Miata.
But if I had that kind of money I think I would end up buying two 25-30 year old japanese cars instead.
