Deep breaths. Relax, close your eyes. Think calm thoughts.  Have fun.

All the best. The anxiety wears off as soon as you enter the office.

So he said he doesn't do transgender evaluations or write letters but he will try to have the office people find who to go see. I am beyond agrivated right now. They have a counselor working there who has a specialty of working with trans people but she's not insurance certified yet.

Anyway I have my weekly appointment with my counselor this aftwrnoon.

Thanks girls for the uplifting comments. No Sailor there is not something like that in St Louis. There are a couple of private practice doctors that will manage hrt. I was wanting to get in with the endocrinologist at one of the big hospitals who is also an instructor at the university medical program. He only takes on transgender patients. I would like to have my hormones managed by the areas for most trans gender expert instead of some doctor who advertises their service. I would think the endo is at the forefront of medicine in this field.

I'm just bummed because I'm still not certain when or where to get a letter of recommendation right now. I will bring it up with my therapist. I don't know if she's comfortable with writing one or not.

My therapist is awesome. She is going to call the endocrinologist office and find out if a letter from her as a licensed social worker is acceptable. She was also reaching out to a transitioned trans man she knows to see if she can get some information from him.
She is quickly becoming like my second mom. :)

I'm hopeful again tonight.

Oh yeh went to town, Target, and out to eat no wig and 5oclock shadow but otherwise dressed and nails with a beautiful shade of dark chocolate. There was this older guy eating at a booth with his wife that kept looking at me funny. every time I picked up my glass to drink I'd see him. Oh well I went out either way. If I can get rid of this face hair it will get a bit better. I'm thinking of trying to find an experienced Turkish beard wax place somewhere in the city.

Got everything crossed for you that the letters from your counsellor will be fine!!

Thanks Liz.
Well I suppose something to celebrate, I went to my initial new patient appointment with a new general practice Doctor. He's a young guy who is very open to talking about things. The big thing to come from the appointment, since I already see a psychiatrist and a LCSW for counseling, he put the official diagnosis of Gender Dysphoria in my chart.

I never thought I'd be so happy to have someone acknowledge that there's something wrong with me (medically wrong that is).  ::)

He also confirmed something I've tried to figure about myself for a long time. My pelvis does look like a female pelvis. He questioned whether the pictures were actually from my CT scan at first. Can't hardly miss the staples from my hernia repair surgery though. For me it's just another personal affirmation.

I have no idea the cost nor the process, but if your pelvis is structured like a woman you may have some extra chromosomes floating around.  You could do a chromosomal test.  There are at least two different tests, one quick test on a few cells then there's another that checks thousands (?) of cells.  Again I'm no expert, I've never had it done but if you suspect you may be intersexed consider it.

Yes it might be a good idea just in case. I don't have any symptoms of extra chromosomes but I really am wondering now. I'm sure he would point me to the right specialist. The more I look closely at myself the more I question that. I asked him at what age bones get their form. He said most of a bones shape is formed before birth. He didn't seem to know the exact age of things like knee and elbow angles. Those are secondary traits but there is alot of overlap possible between the sexes. I don't know about the pre fused pelvic bones though. Certain parts of that shape are changed by estrogen. The thing I don't have is the hips wider than the pelvic crest so in boy jeans I might look like I just have a wide bottom half. In girl jeans my knee angle shows alot more I think.

I couldn't help but feel happy about it though as I sat in the building lobby waiting for my wife and mother in law to come back by and pick me up.
