I'm about to do something that quite frankly is pretty bold.  I'm sick of the north east.  It's rainy and cold all the time and I've had enough.  I want to live in a state that is progressive, sunny and warm with good opportunities.   California I think fits that criteria.  So I'm going to quit my engineering job in NC; cash in my 401K; buy a Mercedes Sprinter class B motorhome and go west to California.  I'll live in the motorhome like a gypsy and maybe grow marijuana on top of it to supplement my income.  I'm not joking here.  I'm actually going to do this.

I will.  It's going to be an adventure.

You really need to think about that marijuana thing. California is very environmental and the state has shut down a number of grow operations because they took place on public land. The fertilizer, insect control and trash left behind created a big cleanup problem for the state. In the legal market, there is a good deal of completion so doing it legally may be more difficult than you think. On top of that, because there is so much money, it's dangerous because somebody will always want to rip off your stock or you money as banks will not do business with you.

Yeah I'll need to research the legality of growing on top of a motorhome.

Come on out!  You're gonna like it here!  The Bay Area is the most trans-friendly, but you'll find it pretty good anywhere along the coast.

I can't assess your agricultural plans, but marijuana cultivation is a long-standing industry (both large and small scale) on the northern coast - Del Norte, Humboldt, and Mendocino Counties.

I'll be a marijuana gypsy.

This is actually a real thing.  There are folks called 'trimmigrants' that travel the state trimming and tidying buds for sale:

It's sort of amazing the jobs that actually exist out there.

Note: Not a news post, just an interesting older article on the topic
