Hi,

So I've been trying to grow my leg hair for what seems like ages, with very little change. I'm growing it in an attempt to pluck up the courage to wear shorts and use the male locker room, predominantly in the gym. I have been avoiding the gym for some time, and when I do go, I use the female locker room, and dash in and out like a ninja. I'm not an elite athlete, so can't use the excuse of reducing wind resistance for a lack of leg hair! Anyone else have similar feelings in regard to leg hair and wearing shorts/feeling more comfortable with more leg hair?

Cheers, Noah

I left the leg hair alone about a year ago to see what would happen with it. It took about 6-8 months to reach the manly-looking stage pre T.

It takes a while if you've been removing the hair for it to return to a natural looking hair shape, and if you've got pale body hair like I do, it can look like there's less of it there when there really isn't.

It's not likely anyone will care, or mention it to you, unless you know them.

This wasn't a problem for me... I had a great crop of leg hair about a month after stopping shaving. Sometimes having thick, dark hair is a good thing.

I think it depends on the person. I'm very hairy and I'm pre-t, though I guess leaving it alone and not shaving would work.

My father's legs were hairless if he moved around a lot. The fine hair he was able to grow was wore off by the blue jeans when he was walking. Before his death, he was spending most of his time on his back and that was about the only time I saw hair on his legs. It can be normal for men not to have leg hair though I suspect it's not real common.

That was never a problem for me pre-T, I had a lot of hair. Granted, it has now taken a more masculine look by getting slightly longer and curling a bit more.

I suggest you wear long pants for the time being if youre self conscious if its already grown out all it can, or just not worry about if its not long enough, odds are you probably wouldnt have any eyelashes bat your way if you were seen with hairy legs that didnt reach a long hair quota standard, Im sure some males dont have hairy legs like that

This is one of those things that transguys are self conscious about but cis guys don't even think about. Nor do they care. I guarantee that any dude in a locker room staring at your legs long enough to notice no hair are doing so because they're attracted to you. Take a look at legs in the summer. You'll see varied lengths on guys. It really isn't a big deal, man. At all. Guys make a point to NOT stare in a locker situation. It's the universal I'm  not gay guy code. They're so concerned with the implications for their sexuality that they look elsewhere.

Yeah, guys who are good friends with each other will probably joke about it but on the whole guys won't bother in a locker room with strange guys, lol. I've not even encountered a female locker room situation in which women would comment to or about someone else they don't know unless they're in a gang and/or are like, 14 y. o.

Adult strangers don't really care. If anyone did and decided to come up and give you grief over it, they'd be that 1 in 1000 prize weirdo.

I've always felt more comfortable with long leg hair i don't mind shaving it sometimes either (But sometimes it makes me dysphoric and because it takes forever to grow back i don't normally shave it off)  but i prefer it being long anyways it makes me happy. When my leg hair is longer i always wear shorts i wear them with pride :D
As for locker rooms and other things i stay in gender neutral bathrooms so i have no clue.

I don't think the guys in the locker room are going to bother looking at your legs. Hey there are things like most swimmers shave leg hair off. My 18 year old son has a total forest of hair on his legs but it's so blond that you can't see it unless you are very close to him and are deliberately staring. Total wookie but you wouldn't know :)

My SO was just busy mocking my leg hair because it lies flat rather than looks all tangled. I think it's coming along great, though... getting darker too. Was kinda surprised this morning to get out of the shower and see that a bunch of it has really started to come in in the male pattern on the top of the inner thighs and the trail is obvious now. Not looked at it for a few days and it was odd to see that it's really dark hair. I didn't think I had such dark body hair.

But yeah, checking it everyday probably means you'll not notice the progress so well. Check it after a week or a few days and you might be surprised how quickly it grows.

I totally agree, no one will think twice about it. Just be confident

I'd wear shorts but I'm not out yet... I sometimes get made to shave all my leg hair off if I have to go swimming or wear shorts; I went to Belgium last year and my mum said I had to take shorts and shave everything off (never did) q: It's almost painful to do it. I have more arm/leg hair than my cis friend (he commented on the fact more than once), and my brother and my uncle on my mum's side also have next to no body hair. Mum told me my uncle can hardly grow a beard and doesn't have to shave often... Me, though, I've got quite a lot of body hair despite being pre-everything- on my fingers and my toes, even, and my hairless brother told me my legs look like a man's legs. haha

Has anyone else noticed they're legs getting to be more masculine looking? I've had long leg hair for a while but now when I look down at them they start to look more like a dudes legs then just mine with grown out hair. However, I don't know whats making them look more masc, they just do all of sudden.

Yep, less fat on them. Even on the calves which on me were always pretty muscly to begin with, they've changed shape slightly and now look a bit longer in appearance because of it. Dudes' legs typically don't have much fat on 'em.

That must be it. I noticed my quads feel more muscular but I have also been running more. I'm supper into it!
