How you deal with the long waits for NHS appointments?
My next appointment is in June this year and I've already had my blood tests sent out. There was a discussion of therapy too but gosh do I hate waiting half a year ugh

I can relate!  Our system isn't quite as bad for waiting times as your NHS, but it is bad enough.  How do I deal with it?  Ugh, not well! 

I find it dysphoric to not be making progress.  The last few months, waiting for my HRT appointments, I tried to keep something going to convince me that things are happening.  I did some voice therapy, had some laser hair removal, dressed at home and for support group meetings.  I have spent time researching how to go about getting my identification changed.  It all helps to take the edge off waiting.

But, yeah, at the end of the day, I am still physically no closer to transition than I was before I came out.  I don't do patience well.

Ah that sounds so draining. Right now all I've got is a name change under my belt but still have to change my I'd oops.

I've found talking to this forum and friends help a lot and at the moment I've been writing and going to attempt drawing more regularly
Idk how long distractions are will help

It's supposed to speed up after you get past the psychiatrist sessions and finally get signed off on T. The first part and being put "on the list" to get the first app is the longest wait.

One of the things that helped me was the deadline given for surgery which I thought, after getting T was way too close. I expect another year or two, but it's like 7 or 8 months, and in order to get best results from that, I need to work out and get into good shape first. So there's the feeling that it's a while, but it's also cutting it pretty fine to get into the right form by then, has made the time go by much quicker because basically every day counts.

I know I'm lucky I could just about afford to go to a private GIC to get approved for T; I'm still on the waiting list for Charing cross to discuss top surgery. If I dwelt on the fact that I've been waiting since April so my 1st appointment probably won't be until May or that the wait for approval for surgery will take months or that to book a consult and then have a date for surgery will most likely be another few months I'd just give up now.

But at least I can use this time to get in shape and in the grand scheme of things it only takes up a very small percent of my whole life.

Gosh,Elis that sounds rough. I hope the months will just fly by and to be honest I didn't expect it to be this long. I guess i will just have to occupy myself in the meantime.
