I find that close fitting underwear is essential, to try to minimise movement, and positioning can help too - if you can tuck, then that can help. Just take care to not be too tight as chafing is sore... and another discomfort there is unpleasant.
For me, that is enough to reduce the sensations to a point where it's mostly dormant, and doesn't remind me that it's there too much during the day, unless I'm moving around a lot - but there's no way I can ignore it. I found my way, purely by experiment, over many years, in the time before I had words to describe what I was feeling.
