Well because i let my ID lapse without renewing now i need to get a new ID, then send to get my birthcertificate updated, then get my ID changed with the new birth certificate. Too many hoops urgh

Same here. To get a deed poll I need ID - to get a new ID I need a deed poll and I'm not paying a bunch to get ID that will expire immediately after I get the deed poll, lol.

I found the most efficient way was to get some ID photos signed on the back by my Dr., then get a deed poll from the solicitor, then send that off to get a new passport.

This whole process has a lot of hoops. Just wait for the fun you'll get to have updating every piece of identification, credit card, account, etc.

I'm not doing a name change anytime soon, due to the whole damn credit check issue - my ex left me in really bad shape when we divorced. If al i am currently changing is the gender marker, other than ID, birth certificate and Social Security what else would I need to immediatly address

Car insurance and health insurance are all I can think of.

I feel the frustration. I am trying to do my name change and then once that goes through, gender marker on a passport card (because I live where there's one of /those/ bathroom bills and I want to be able to prove I'm male) and it's been so frustrating. The paperwork, the background check waiting, the expense... So annoying. Especially since I hope to get top surgery this summer and if I do, I'll just be going back and changing all my documents AGAIN for the gender marker (except the passport since it'll be done).

I am lucky that in both my birth state as well as my current one I can change my gender marker with simply a doctors certification that I am undergoing medical treatment for transition (hrt is allowable) so surgery is not a prerequisite. And my prefered name is a masculinized version of my birth one so I am not insane about that right now
