Coming out with a pic

It's like coming out of the closet to put a profile pic on the forum. I used to be on another forum and was so afraid to put a pic up. Maybe I'll wait a little more before coming out here. One part of me is afraid people will know me on here. Another part of me scream for connection to other people. So what if they see me here, then they are trans too in one way or another. What is there to be afraid of?

Anyone had a bad experience from putting a pic of yourself in your profile?

There is no pressure to up a picture of yourself on this site. Do so only if you are comfortable. The one word of warning is if you are fully stealth, it might be a good idea not to post your images as you never know who might encounter it. If you look at the avatars on the site, you will find one of the three, no image, a personal image or an image of something other than the member.

I worried a bit before I put up my picture.  But then I realized that the people I was worried about would not be caught dead on this site.  I am careful not to post any identifying information that would lead someone Googling my male identity to find this forum.

Ok. Thank you. I am semi-open. Some people know. Most don't. I have not gone through transition. I cross dress, in public. Sometimes I pass, sometimes I don't.

I'll find a pic to put on my profile. It's more personal that way.

Can you change pics any time you want?

One good thing that could come out of exposure is that it might give me the kick in my butt to through it all. I'm stuck in the middle and is nothing atm. Not man not woman. Some see me as a butch.

I've been careful not to give away any personal data. I even made my Tapatalk anonymous. I did not have Tapatalk before I registered here.

Googling for trans support Susans is one of the top hits. So at least for me as I am younger and have a lot a family my age, I worry that someone looking to educate themselves more could easily find themselves browsing through here.

Paranoid? yes. oh well lol

You may change your avatar as often as you want and if you change your mind, you may remove it as well. One member for a while wanted to change hers every week but fortunately her user name was easy to remember so you knew who she was. There are a few members I remember from their avatar images but they tend to be infrequent posters and sometimes I am not good with names.  ???

At first I was paranoid about putting any pictures here, but I also realized that if I'm going forward with transition what is the point of hiding. The process takes so long everyone I know will eventually notice. Besides, anyone going through this web site either knows someone who is trans or is trans themselves and are trying to figure themselves out.

Josie. You got a point there.

People don't visit here for fun. Either they are trans them selves or know someone, just as you said. Now I have some thinking to do.

I look like a guy already. People take me for male in waiting rooms and stores. So what's the point of hiding?

Ok.  Made it half way out. I found an old photoshopped picture of me. I've had this one on facebook until recently. Not as a profile pic but in my album.

Atleast it's my face in the pic.

I've had a pic on here for two years and other than not posting my home address have been pretty open with a lot of information.  Either nobody I know has ever been here to look or if they have they are keeping the info to themselves.  If anyone ever does see it and feels the need to tell everybody else I really don't care.  It's only me and I'm not ashamed of anything about this anymore.

Deborah, that feels comforting. I hope I find the courage to be open about this. I am myself today but nobody knows for sure I'm FtM. I believe most people think I am a gay girl.

I will talk to my psychiatrist on tuesday and go forth with being the true me.

I ha d a pic on here for ages when I first started off but I have changed so much I want the next picture to be of Liz. That pick will happen when my hair is finished growing in and has been cut and styled in a couple of months. I never had any grief from anyone on this site or from another where I had the same pic up for over a year.

Be aware there are people out there that will copy the photo and then use it for their own purposes on other sites

Good Luck

Thanx for the warning Liz. Don't know why someone would use my pic, I'm not that handsome. Haha

I'll keep that in mind.

Yes. The same to me. As I have nothing to hide, I am not afraid of posting pic. Everybody knows who I am.

If you hide and somebody knows it, a few people can utilize and abuse it, although the chance is very rare.

An any case, Susan's place here is a relatively closed site compared with Facebook. In Facebook, I sometimes refrain from posting my bikini photos because some of my friends and colleagues do not like it, but here I feel relatively free to do it, because people here are supportive of transgender people, understand and accept me better than other cis-people.

barbie~~
Just do it.

Great picture of you!  It looks like it has a story behind it and captures your image clearly enough to get a sense of you without being so obvious.  I really like it.  Maybe I can put up a realistic photo of me one of these days.

I photoshopped that pic some years ago. It is me but in another body. I'll put another pic of me when I feel comfortable to do so.
