Denise

I would like to start a thread to allow everyone to post their firsts.  I know over the last several months I just wanted to scream - Look I just ..... and survived.

What did you just do (today, yesterday, recently) that you are excited that you took that step and, hopefully, survived.

My personal transition path included medical changes.  The path others take may require no medical intervention, or different care.  We each find our own path. I provide these dates for the curious.

My wife saw "me" for the first time last night!!  That was a huge step but now I must simply let her process.  The one thing she did say, " 'She' was not what I had pictured in my mind."  Which is a good thing since shortly after she said I looked very pretty!

Lucky you.  My state (Colorado) won't allow that until after SRS is complete.

A recent first: Driving. An unseasonably warm day. Windows down.  Another woman in traffic didn't like my driving and yelled, "Bitch!!!"
She was upset. I felt giddy.

Had lunch with a high school friend I've seen once in the last 37 years.  She was surprised and supportive.

Denise had dinner with my son, his girl friend, my nephew and his wife tonight - Not a single word about it.  So I guess they're accepting.

I went out last Wednesday afternoon as Jaime without makeup. Drove to Ulta for my first pro makeup job. (So I could observe and see what I could look like)
Went to the doctor for what I thought would be the beginning of my meds. (As Jaime in makeup and the new wig which looked terrible). Left without meds ( those come @ tomorrows appt.)
Left doctor went to salon for a wig styling and the stylist didnt
"clock" me until I told it was a wig in my deep James voice that snuck out. She was really helpful when styling my hair to fit my features.
Happy day!

I told the first person I was exploring my inner self & have been thinking about transitioning.
It was my nephew, he's only a couple years younger than I am and had a lot of questions, but I was happy to answer what I feel I want & what I know.
He seemed very supportI've and I'm so glad I was able to tell someone.
Two days ago I came up with a name for myself after reading through over 100.
Lexi I love that name so far and I'm going to keep looking but that's my front runner so far

I am out to everyone EXCEPT work. That makes me happy!

Had a makeover at a large chemist full of shoppers and surrounded by curious onlookers. Came out with and empty purse, but enjoyed every minute of it.
For me this was something special, I have for most of my life lived up to my user name, I used to find it hard to even enter a store.

I had the first of a year's worth of laser hair removal appointments this morning. The aesthetician was fantastic and kept me chatty and in good spirits the near hour and a half we were together. I ended up going for the full body because once you pay for the year's worth of unlimited treatments, you can do as much or as little of your body as you want. So I figured I might as well go all out, right? So she started zapping my face and worked her way down from there. Things got a little awkward in certain areas, but over all it was a pleasant experience, and I'm well on my way towards diminishing my body hair. I'll be doing appointments every 6 weeks from here out until February of 2018. It was much faster, and far less painless than I ever expected. And for those of you wondering, the laser was a Candela GentleLase, and the cryogen blasts along with the zaps is just AMAZING!!! Apparently it was on one of the higher she's bumping up the power next time because I didn't react to the laser as much as she expected for a first timer. I hope the next experience is just as pleasant!
Up and away and off I go to lose my mind and find my soul.

That is fantastic! Hope it works better for you the next time. Curious about the cost got a year if you dont mind sharing? I'd like a comparison prove so when I shop the laser places in my area.

I started therapy a few weeks ago and contacted a local laser hair removal place today. I'm very excited, but also very nervous. I should probably come out to my wife before going for my first laser, but I was looking at some of the links listed on here and found a place that is pretty close so I sent a message for info and they emailed me to schedule a free consultation.

I'm paying $2,000 for the years worth of sessions, as much of little of your body as you want and they recommend every 6-8 weeks. If for any reason you can't do a scheduled session, as long as you give advance notice, they will add it on at the end of the year to make sure you get your money's worth. I couldn't even find another place near me that offered deals like this, and comparable pricing for a single full body session would have been prohibitively expensive compared to this. I was told to expect a 1-2 day histamine reaction from the laser but haven't experienced it yet and it's been about 8 hours now. So I might be out of the woods, but any noticeable hair follicles are all crispy and curled inward and should start to fill out soon.

I had my first blood test with gender dysphoria written in the comments section.  It was also the first time I've seen gender dysphoria written in association with my name.  Soon HRT:)

Its a great feeling to see it written down, to know that its real and no longer a dream.
