With this presidency and the jerks within the administration, what's to come of us trans people? I read a blog/ article about red states "detransitioning" people. http://trans-fusion.blogspot.com/2017/03/a-red-state-is-detransitioning-state.html

And I am not going to lie, it scared the hell out of me. Yeah I live in California, but what's to stop their reach from touching the west coast.

I really fear for all trans people who are in transition. They've already started chipping away at our protections... And I don't know whats going to come.

I live in a red state (Missouri), work at a company that has excluded trans* care specifically, and had to get the 'proof of gender' (court order of gender change) to get my driver's license changed before GRS.  This is nothing new.  Same old fight.  And mine was not the state gov. job discriminating against me, it was the private enterprise I work for.  Same thing we have been dealing with in the mid-west all along. :)  My birth state (New Mexico) would not accept my 'proof of gender' court order from Missouri, and made me wait until GRS to change my birth certificate.  It is already touching the west ....

So, this is not alarming what Wisconsin is doing.  Same old story, if you ask me....
Just keep voting the way you believe and petition the backward thinkers to see things logically.

I lobbied my employer for 2 years and told them that the only reason they exclude transcare was for ideological reasons.  Not monetary.  I was the only trans* in a company of 4000 employees.  They listened and added trans* surgeries as of Jan 1, 2017. :D  (of course, AFTER I already paid out of pocket...lol)

The point is, stay strong in the face of discrimination, take the fight logically and civilly straight to them and don't relent in the face of their bigotry.
Some people say I'm apathetic, but I don't care.

What you did was really great Ainsley. You fought for the benefit of others who may come after you. That's really nice.
I do hope things really don't go as bad as this article suggests for you Americans.
I am lucky living between Switzerland and Ireland, I have it pretty nice!

Protections are put into place to protect vulnerable groups, and there are those in "invulnerable" groups who will fight tooth and nail against any protections that they see as chipping away at their power and privilege. The hounds have been released in the U.S., and it's not only trans people who need to worry, but every other group, too, that has historically been at a disadvantage because of who they are. I am very thankful that I don't live in the U.S. as basic human rights are rolled back for many. Even here in Canada, a bastion of human rights and liberalism, Conservative members of our unelected senate are fighting to torpedo, yet again, adding gender expression and gender identity to prohibitted grounds for discrimination in our Human Rights Act and Criminal Code. Hatred and discrimination boil just below the surface in every country, it's just that, in the U.S., the haters are now in control.

Don't panic, organize and resist. I too live in very blue state and there are a lot of state protections in place. We are just the latest pawn in someones "culture war" and it will pass, but like all civil rights struggles it does take action and allies. We have the latter now lets do the former.

If you wish to post political post I suggest you use other social media.
