I understand why nicotine is especially dangerous while taking T, but I can't find out if the act of smoking itself raises any concerns while on T. Obviously smoking is unhealthy, but would I have to worry about smoking herbal cigarettes on T? Does anyone else smoke a nicotine alternative such as herbal cigarettes or catnip?
I'm only 2 days into quitting nicotine but the mood swings and general unease are becoming to much. I'm starting T very soon and know that the combination of quitting smoking and starting T will cause me some major mood issues. I know my doctors will not mind me smoking herbal cigarettes or some other alternative as long as I can find out they don't pose a major health risk on T.

I also own a vape and am curious if anyone knows herbal blends or calming additives for vape juice.

Hi RayonTrees

Welcome and I hope you enjoy your time here at Susan's.

I quit smoking last year on July 5th and just slugged out the first three days of withdrawal and then it calmed down to a very easy level...I still have cravings but they only last a matter of a minute or two and the longer you go the less you have...after about a week you begin to not think about it

Sorry I know nothing about the sort of vaping you are talking about but I am sure someone will come along with some idea's for you.

Please make yourself familiar with our "things to live by" links

Regards

Liz

Actually T massively reduced my stress and anxiety levels and has done for a lot of ftm on it by many accounts. Maybe it will for you as well.

Some evidence suggests smoking affects the levels of free T in your system, and other studies imply smoking can slow muscle growth when you're trying to build it. They're still being looked into though.

We know T may thicken the blood and raise the risk of blood clots/stroke; more viscous blood can exert more pressure on the vessels raising blood pressure. Nicotine constricts blood vessels, causing blood pressure to rise; smoking tends to cause a buildup of plaque in arteries and vessels making their diameter thinner and prone to blockage. The general strangulation effect of smoking on your vascular system combined with T means you'll be running a higher risk of heart attacks, strokes and blood clots... as well as other illnesses related to higher blood pressure.

It's difficult or even impossible to know what is in different herbal stuff to look at the risks, but I think it's probably safe to say T is the lesser problem, it's the smoking itself that causes the greater risk and damage to the body than T.

I decided there were more important things in my life, like Donald and Doris and they deserved a parent to be there for them. I quit Cigarettes cold turkey as well as booze and cocaine all at the same time. Now sober for 28 years and have not regretted it once. It does take will power. But understanding the importance of my "higher powers" made it relatively easy  Not trying to be holier than thou, it just worked for me.

I used Centrex and a method called nicotine fading to quit. I quit a hundred times during my life but using the method I mentioned worked for me, smoke free 8 years.

I am MTF, E and blocking T for me was an extremely calming effect. I do not know it that holds true the other way around.
