Hey everyone. I have a question to ask regarding libido. Is it normal to have virtually NO sex drive? This may be TMI but I havent had to ''releive'' myself since April 9th.. litterly just shy of 3 whole weeks.I actually like this very much so, as maintaining that part of my body can cause dysphoria. But I have noticed even when looking at something i would have found arousing not too long ago i have now zero arosual. How normal is this??

BTW I miss your photo avatar!

I am pre HRT at the moment but am 6 months in to the 3 weeks you mentioned in a traditional sense. Last October I gave up all stimulation of my penis in favor of the female type orgasms I had begun having by nipple stimulation. My desire is not driven by testosterone as it is naturally very low and my libido is more thought driven now. Meaning I choose to go for an orgasm rather than I "need" to, it's just that I choose to quite often ;D kinda hooked on them ;)

I was a bit confused and worried about this in the beginning and still am on occasion but I appreciate not feeling like something is controlling me.
Cheers,

Dana

I'm on T, so going in the opposite direction. My sex drive pre-T was below average. On T, it's probably even lower. My levels all look fine, so it's not a hormonal issue. It's fine for me, because I identify as asexual but I wouldn't say it's completely normal. I think reduced libido is much more common among MTF ladies.

From all the research I did on HRT prior to starting, I've seen that what you're experiencing is quite normal.  That said, I'm almost 4 weeks in and my libido is still there.  For a while I was actually getting more morning wood than ever before, however that seems to have finally subsided. But still my sex drive is running strong.

I think ultimately it's a YMMV thing with the hormones.  I'm on low dose E and a lower dose of Spiro at this point so maybe that's why I've had more of a drive yet.  I also don't attach as much hatred to my penis as others do so perhaps that helps too.  Honestly, if and when I decide to go with GRS, I would actually like it to keep functioning up to that point that it becomes my female parts.

My desire is zero.  Once a month in the shower maybe.  That's mostly because I want to see if I can.

It was always my mind that put me over and now I just don't have any desire so it is tough to finish.  It also takes longer and umm... things get a little raw after a while.

Yup, it totally doesn't interest me any more.  It's pretty normal on MTF HRT.

Yes, Ashley it is entirely normal and a known side effect. I went from very actively indulging my base interests daily to maybe one a month after starting HRT and it's more of a chore now. Kind of like taking care of business instead of pleasure.  Got to start working on that female O.  lol

Interesting thread, I've been wanting to ask questions on this and specifically about Spiro. Years ago I was on high dose E & P and if anything libido went up. This year going back on low dose E & P plus Spiro libido is near zero so I was wondering if maybe the Spiro? To try to test that theory I stopped the Spiro (sshhh don't tell my doctor) for several days, it came back maybe a little. Going back on the twice a day Spiro and gone again. Wasn't gone just down below either, that would be fine with me but even nipple sensation was greatly diminished and the profound nipple sensations was just about everything for me right now.

I'm not certain my doctor told me all of the reasons and all of the effects/side effects for the Spiro script but I will ask more questions on my next visit. I have read in several posts on this forum where the ladies were quite pleased to be able to drop the Spiro completely. I haven't yet read of the reason and as everyone knows, curiosity killed the cat.

So just what is the real deal with Spiro? What are the reasons your doctor gave for prescribing it? What were the effects that it seems so many are happy about doing away with? Is it the Spiro killing libido?

Has never been my desire to be sexless, seems to me the birth defect is a better option than that. Well, maybe.

Thank you all for the replies!! Yes, i guess I was more curious then concerned. See, I love being able to long without the ''need''. At the same time is is differnet. Prior to HRT i needed to do my busniess 2 times each day.. in the morning because it wouldnt go away and at night because i couldnt go to sleep if i didnt. It was pure drudgery. Now I can go for liek ever without the need. I think the reason is because it was a habit  in my mind, it was rarley ever a want and more of a need.. Now, thankfully it is gone. See, not to get into graphic detail but i do liek the orgasim. i Just hate that I got to use that thing, or that thing still needs to be incorparated to acheive one.. so now, i just dont. And each day goes by the needs goes away ever more. Even a few days ago me and a friend were talking about cuddling when we see eachother (very close friends with good hisotry)... prior to HRT that would be an instant ''gotta releive'' Now its like the sexual component, or potiential sexual component is gone and now it is more feelings based and yea :), I like this so much better as you Ladies and one gentleman  could probably imagine for me :)!! Thanks for the input!

Hi Sailor Kind of sounds like a movie from the forties.  ^-^. I have used spiro for congestive heat failure for quarter of a century. Yeah, I'm  that old. After about five years it affected my intimacy with my wife. We have adapted. Tantric sex makes intimacy not so much of a quicky but a slow down to create ecstasy when you do finally release. And believe me it takes a while now to get me going as I no longer get erections but I do orgasm. The resulting orgasm is twice as satisfying because instead of focusing on the act and going off to sleep. You are enjoying your partner to the fullest. As I think back on my previous relationship my first wife before we got married and we had sex every time we met which was only two or three days a week. But we did it in public in a parked car, in the park, on the floor of her bedroom. It was so stimulating doing something forbidden in public. We were caught only once and were able to talk our way into only a parking ticket. Then we got married and suddenly we were together seven days a week. My health was beginning to fail due to heart failure and seven days a week just weren't in the cards. AND worst of all we had sex in bed which was a total turn off. I don't know about you but when I go to bed I go to sleep. If I knew then, what I know now we would have celebrated our 41st anniversary three days ago. I am convinced tantric would have saved my marriage even if she had found out I was transgender. As to Chris's question. I would assume most of the women that no longer need to take Spiro have had Orchiectomy which is the removal of testicles and thus the producer of testosterone which will leave you with only residual testosterone from other sources like food. So you won't need spiro to reduce testosterone. After Orchi spiro will only make you pee, which is it's primary medical use to relieve chf. Do a Google on Tantric to learn how to please your partner while pleasuring yourself as well. By the way gender of your partner should not be a hurdle. Only the agreement that you are there for the pleasure of both and not to get off asap. Since I never had the urge for sex with a male, I can only make the assumption.

Oh yeah, the evil twins gotta go. June 15th for pre-surgery appointment, that's 49 days but hey who's counting. Should get the surgery date at that time. A life long dream come true it is.

QuoteIs it the Spiro killing libido?

I can't say for Spriro, but I recently started on the generic version of Avodart for BPH.  One of the benefits is reduced libido.
I'm a 65 year old male who has been thinking about SRS for many years.  I also was a  full cross dresser for a few years.  I wear a bra, pantyhose and nail polish daily because it just feels right.

Started HRT April 17, 2019.

Sprio blocks testosterone production and causes your sex drive to drop. I was on estrogen only and the levels I was at wasn't sufficient to block testosterone production so things functioned normally down there and my dysphoria remain pretty much the same until surgery. When I was put on progesterone, I became horny and hungry. Both drives were so strong that my progesterone dosage was cut in half to tone it down.

Sex drive is personal and I have seen people on the site who have high sex drives after surgery even though their hormones have tanked out. Others have little or no sex drive even on progesterone.

I have the same thing, I can go weeks without needing any release, sometimes even months. It wasn't that way pre-HRT. Even at a low dose HRT, I still had a fairly strong libido; it was after I was on full dose that it took a nose dive.

I've been on HRT for three years now and I have no drive at all.  I could never relate to the people who feel the need to relieve themselves multiple times per day.  I don't know how long I go, but when I do, it is usually just to remind me what it feels like.  Still the experience is lackluster usually, but better than nothing.

I still feel aroused sometimes, but my erection  does not stay.

And sadly, I've yet to feel particularly aroused by nipple play, which makes me sad.

My T levels have been low for many years due to an implanted medication pump. This supplies a drug for other purposes and one of the side effects is a dampening of T production to the point where my last levels showed 0.05 as my level. I do not take Spiro and never have had too.

If you do not "exercise" your "willy" it is like any muscle and will become painful when you do. I am told that is because without th4e T you do not get sleep erections and the muscle does not get time to stretch. For those looking for SRS it is apparently better if you can keep it exercised. I try and be as clinical as I can about it otherwise I would rarely touch it and then only as a chore....

Well, I guess I'm just bummed at the moment. I'm about tied in knots over my upcoming orchi to where it's about all I can think about and recent changes in everything else just isn't helping. That sensation below is nearly non-existent isn't a bad thing but even nipple sensation is about gone, that ain't a good thing. Was never my intention to be sexless and feel nothing. I am on progesterone and estradiol along with the Spiro. Don't know what the strength of the Spiro is but the Doc said the E & P were both low dose. I can look at the label on the bottles of course but knowing nothing of what dosage is what it doesn't mean much to me.

Time I think to dig in and work on patience and see how things develop, easily the hardest part of all this.
