Considering it more and more seriously

I wasn't sure if I should have put this in one of the sub-forums or here, so I'm taking a shot.

At first it was too big a decision to consider, but as the time has gone by, I have been thinking more and more about full reassignment surgery. I know it's not even close to cheap, but I don't know the exact cost. I have heard that the best doctors are in Thailand or possibly Brazil. The problem is that I don't know a whole lot about the process. Finding a competent and skilled doctor, the actual procedure, physical requirements before and after, etc. So I'm wanting to ask the ones who have had reassignment surgery, and the ones about to have it, what kind of facts and opinions you would be willing to share about your experiences. Ignorance is applied on my part here.

I have done some research online, but it seems that I keep getting a run around, and no site will discuss it. So I'm getting frustrated as hell there.

There are some who share my time. I am entertained by them.
There are precious few who contribute to my time. I cherish them."

This article has some good information about the possible complications and risks associated with SRS under the section titled Postoperative Care Following Vaginoplasty (SRS):

It discusses the importance of going to a top doctor who does these procedures in order to lessen the risks of complications.

I have a more extensive review of my results buried in my posts somewhere, but I went to Dr. Brassard. Cost was about $20K US (it was $18,050 Canadian at the time, but I am including bank transfer fees and currency conversion; the exchange rate is a lot more favorable now, so I think it's around $15K US at the moment). I ended up orgasmic, self-lubricating, about 6" of depth, and with an aesthetic outcome that "passes" fine both externally and internally even with medical professionals. I'm also able to dilate only once every few months, which is *not* guaranteed; dilation in the first couple months took up a ton of time.

The actual procedure varies a lot by surgeon; Brassard does a penile inversion with a scrotal skin graft and mucosal tissue from the urethra used to form part of the inner labia and clitoral hood.
