What people need to realize is that the Republican Party is no longer the conservative party.  Instead it's gone back to its 1930's roots as a Nationalist party complete with its embrace of totalitarian dictators.  What really needs to happen is that it either reasserts itself as conservative or that it goes the way of its predecessor, the Whigs.  I can only wish.  :-(

The GOP was bad in the 1930s? I find that hard to beleive as Wendell Wilkie was the 1940 nominee and he rocked in my books. But you are right, to brush all real decent conservatives (something we havent seen in a long time) with the brush of the current GOP or the GOP of the last long time is very harsh to them.. many have even adondoned the GOP and went Libertarian, Independent  or in rarer instances even Democratic...

I am not an American, but I am a millennial and on behalf of all millennials allow my to appologize to all for being less politically engaged then we should be. I mean granted we all felt the Bern, but we should also have known, all around the world that elections matter. Still Debbie whatever her face is screwed the people, the youth and the world because she wanted to play god. So I am NOT sad that the Democrats lost per say, just who they lost to. Now with Trump in power enviroment will be trashed.... I thought about maybe travelling down to Florida perhaps to spend sometime there, but with the state going to be underwater in a few decades I may as well not visit... Ah well, Georgia has nice beaches and is higher above sea level

The Republicans allowed their Party to be kidnapped by the Religious Right in the Guise of the "Tea Party". That's the long and short of it. It's evolution over the last 20 years is self evident. I'd love to flesh my comments out, but I like being a member here.

The sand on Georgia beaches is hard as a rock. I like New York beaches better, like way out on the island. Or maybe Maryland beaches.  I commented on that since I can't see talkin politics.

It's kind of ironic how the party that today thinks things were better 50 years ago is saying that their candidates 50 years ago were bad.

A Special Prosecutor to investigate Russian Influence in the White House was just appointed.  He is the previous FBI Director and is respected by all.
