Hey girls I need help. I cant undergo lase hair removal until I move to the city, so give or take another 6 months. I hate my facial stubble with a fire-y passion. Even with the best make-up i still seem to have a small shadow that bugs me to no end. I was hoping to ask what razors do you use? I have only been using the stuff you get at like cheap prices so that may be half my battle. I have asked on trans-girl a while ago when we still talked what it was she used and she told me the Edwin Jagar is really good. What are good brands of razors that give a clean shave :)?

I always had the best luck with Schick Quattro Titanium razors. They gave a close shave, no razor burn (I have a sensitive face), and lasted a while before the razor heads needed replaced.

For shadow I used NYX Dark Circle Concealer. This stuff with a concealer brush, then with a blender brush, followed by a foundation works brilliantly well for my shadow. It's also inexpensive.

I actually use razors from Dollar Shave club.  Pretty cost effective, I believe, for all of us who still need to shave!

I just wrote about this recently.  I use these products:

-coconut oil and bar soap instead of shaving cream
-Gilette Venus Embrace Sensitive (the mint green one)
-BIC disposable single blade razors
-Pacific Shaving Co. Caffeinated After Shave

All of these products don't misgender me, so I definitely like that.  First I shave my entire face with the Venus, going against the hair (going with the hair doesn't work at all for me).  Then I touch up any more difficult areas with the BIC single blade (under my nose and under my ears usually).  If any larger areas still seem especially shadowy, I go over them with the BIC.  This is all pretty effective to do daily.  I don't wear any make up afterwards.  It's not perfect, but it's as good as shaving has ever been for me.

I recommend getting electro instead of laser.  I had some laser done a decade ago, and it hurt just as bad if not worse than electrolysis.  The results were also very short lived.  6 months ago, I had some electrolysis and the parts of my face that were treated are still clear.  I'm not sure why some people say hair regrows with electrolysis.  I am intending to continue electrolysis ASAP.

I recently started using Gillette 3-blade razors.  They are doing a pretty decent job.  In boy mode, I used to use an electric shaver.  It didn't get it nearly close enough.

I already started laser last fall, so most of the dark hairs were gone.  I am doing more laser now, in between electrolysis sessions, to keep the dark hairs gone.  So I don't have a lot of shadow even with some stubble showing.  Everything that is left is white.

That is important to me, since I am going full-time at the end of this week.  I'll still need electrolysis for at least a year, so three days a week, I can't shave.  Talk about dysphoric!  But there's no way around it.  I have two more laser sessions in this round, but I'll do more again later if the dark hairs come back.

Hi! My name is Charles & I live in western Idaho. I use the Dollar Shave Club. They have an absolutely wonderful razor cartridge. It has 6 blades, and they send you 4 cartridges at a time, per box. They also have a great shave oil and something called Shaving Butter. I strongly suggest these. It doesn't much, and if you used them, also try putting a hot-water soaked (and wrung out!) Wash cloth first. Then the oil, and then the shaving butter. I also use the razor and butter on my legs and pits. It also works amazingly well on my lower back (occasional fur!).
I NEVER get cuts or razor burn with this great product!! Go online; they'll give you a deal and probably free shipping (not positive, but check it out) and they will mail it to you at home!! I hope this helps!

I use a Braun Silk Epil with it's shaver head.  Gets a really nice close shave and that can easily be covered with a good foundation.  Just to be safe, I use IT Cosmetics bye-bye under-eye concealer and then Lancome Teint Idole Ultra foundation (recommended to me by a rep at Ulta). Both are a bit on the pricey side, especially Lancome, but the coverage I get for the price is worth it.  I can cover my entire face and neck with two pumps of the liquid foundation and you when paired with the concealer, my beard disappears.  I can even cover one day's worth of growth with the afore mentioned products.

Hope that helps.

I've had so many IPL and laser treatments over the last 15 years I can't even keep count, Not just my face, but legs too. I'd never had much faith in the @home IPL products, but they'd gotten better and more powerful into the 4th and 5th generations of the products so I decided to test one.

I went with this one:
Braun Gillette Venus Silk-expert IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) Hair Removal System, powered by Braun
Link: http://a.co/563gCKL

Now, I've learned over the years how to maximize the effects of IPL using carbon dye. It does make a difference if you use it correctly. The other thing you might want to consider on this model is overriding the power sensors which will allow you to get the maximum joules per flash. If you combine those little tips you might be surprised how well this device works. I can tell you from experience it's good enough to do a Brazilian.

The device is cheap if you look at the overall price of Hair Removal and you can use it as frequently as you want, where you want. You can get the Carbon dye on Amazon as well. If you need instructions on how to use it effectively let me know, although I can only tell you what works for me.

This is looking like a very useful thread for future reference or linking. Thanks for starting it in the correct category and thanks to all the contributors. I'm going to try several of the suggestions.

I use an electric and sometime a BIC. I haven't been satisfied with the closeness for many years as I can never achieve a smooth shave without irritating my face and breaking out. My razor is a Norelco and the type that can be taken in the shower and used wet. That hels some but I'm resigned that the only way my face will be soft is by electrolysis.

I really must look into that seriously and find someone to make an appointment with.

Hugs,

Google up the "Dollar Shave Club website".  You'll find it. And its better than Gillette. I know. I tried Gillette.

I'm using blades I purchased from Harry's

To cover-up any remaining shadow, I'm using Naked Skin concealer from Urban Decay (Deep Peach). The orange tone is a complimentary color of the dark stubble, and basically cancels it out. I believe NYX has an orange concealer that you can use as well.

The NYX orange concealer/corrector works pretty well.  I got the best results with Ben Nye Cover-all, usually used for video and film work.  Their SK-1 palette is fairly cheap and will last for months. This stuff will even coat and hide black hairs grown out for a couple days for electrolysis.

Have you thought about waxing? I use wax to do Brazilian waxing on myself. The Brazilian wax is strong enough to rip out pubic hair so I would think it would work for facial hair. The hair also doesn't have to be grown out much for the wax to pick it up. I have waxed again when the hair in my bikini area was just stubble and the wax picked it up. I use GiGi Brazilian hard wax. You can get it on amazon. When heated it looks like thick brown honey. You spread it on the hair and when it dries it is like plastic. Then you just rip the whole thing off. You don't need cloth strips. I also use it to wax my eyebrows. I think eyebrow hair is thicker than facial hair so it should definitely work for facial hair.

Be careful about waxing or epiliating on the face.  Those beard hairs run deep!

Epiliating or waxing facial hair can damage the follicles.  The hair will eventually regrow, but with the damage you could have some other issues.  If you eventually plan to have electrolysis in particular, the follicle damage may make electrolysis more difficult and less effective.

My electrologist was just talking about this yesterday.  She was happy that I had never waxed my face, so the follicles are undamaged and easier to work with.  She can work faster, which equates to cheaper in the long run.

I hope I can add an ask here, but whats the best thing to use in place of shaving cream? I heard some shaving gels help make sure the hairs grow in slower, but I don't know what kind.

Also, I know this has been talked about already, but with razor's that can be bought at like walmart, which is the best to get? I can't get any any other way right now.

I don't really know what I'm doing, since no one ever taught me to shave.  (Most of my shaving life, I used an electric shaver.)  I tried shaving cream, but the fumes (a.k.a. "scent") almost knocked me over.  Now I just lather up some soap.  It seems to work pretty well.

For a razor, I use a Gilette Mach 3 three-bladed razor.  The blades seem to last me about a week.  It gets my face pretty smooth, with the exception of my upper lip.  Nothing will get that smooth.

I discovered Cremo shave cream about six months ago, and it's all I use now. My favorite is the coconut mango, but all of the different scents work the same. Super slick, and moisturizing, requires less than some other shave creams.

As far as razors goes, it's purely personal preference, and based on what works for your skin. Harry's has been my goto, but I don't think you can purchase them in the store. Before that it was schick hydro 5

get a couple sample packs, and see what works
