I am considering FFS with Dr Spiegel and have a consultation appointment with him later in July.
It would be great to hear some opinions based on peoples experience with him.
Wondering what sort of questions I should ask during the consult.
I understand that he is highly rated but I am concerned about some negative comments about him and his services that I found during some research.
Is he really quite good or not?

I just posted my review about him! I would be happy to address any specific questions that you have.   I only considered he and Dr Lee.  Dr Lee's work is more "hollywood-plasticy" and I didn't want to look like I had had plastic surgery, I wanted to look like I was born female.  I think I have those results, although I want to have revisions I don't think it's necessarily adverse in association with him.  I trust him and that was important to me.  I loved that he has researched so thoroughly exactly what it is that makes people perceive others as female when they see a photo or a person face to face.  I liked the analytical intelligent side of him and he obviously has done a ton of gorgeous girls.  I guess it depends on what you have to start with and what you want! xo

I'm in town for  medical reasons on the 20th, when will you be in Boston?  I'm only fifteen miles out anyway.

Hi again and thank you for the responses.
Devlyn Marie, I have an appointment at 330pm on July 24th.
sfbarbie, thank you for your review.
I had got the impression also that he was very knowledgeable about feminine facial characteristics.
Also I had viewed some of the videos he has produced where he explains various FFS procedures.
My concern was because of some very strongly worded reviews on other sites where people give their opinion on his work. Some people called him a butcher and others suggested that he lets students do the work for him.
One person said they were afraid to leave their house!
Is this sort of review from people who just were not happy with their results?
I know not to expect miracles because of having some FFS already.
I had seen some poor reviews for Dr Brassard with one person suggesting that their friend nearly died.
I had no problems with my surgery with him and at four months post surgery I am happy with the results.
Just wondering about poor reviews and if it maybe it is more about the mood and attitude of the reviewer rather than the work done?

I have been reading FFS threads pretty much constantly over the last two years and I have found that doctors do make mistakes however many of the reports are because the person receiving the surgery didn't understand the surgery and as the result expected something they couldn't or didn't get. There are member who have faces so feminine that their face isn't the reason they don't pass but they put the blame for not passing on their face. It's important you understand exactly what the doctor is going to do and if you are unsure about it, delay the surgery until you are in agreement with the doctor.

Some doctors are known for producing one type of look and others a different look. Review the before and after carefully and you may see a pattern in the surgeons work. If you like the results, go with that surgeon. If you don't like it, look for a surgeon that produces the look you want.

It would be nice if it was easy selecting a FFS surgeon however it's pretty difficult. Take your time until you find exactly what you want.

A few ladies have commented that Dr Spiegel's results tend to look more natural. Not like the "Hollywood look" that seems to be more common on the west coast.
