Welcome to Susan's Place. As you didn't specify who you wanted to talk with, I am moving you to Introductions where your thread will be far more likely to get responses from both MTFs and FTMs. Everybody on the site is pretty helpful and often I am helping FTMs and I have seen FTMs helping MTFs. Let us know what you are interested in so we can start a conversation.

We issue to all new members the following links so you will best be able to use the web site.

Hi Georgerhode1001, welcome to Susan's Place! I'm not sure where you're from, but I'll go out on a limb and guess you're in the States. Usually for people who are questioning themselves, a gender therapist is a good starting point. You can look here for one that is transgender friendly: https://www.susans.org/links/Healthcare/Therapists_&_Counselors/

If you know who you are and what you want, informed consent is a good protocol to follow. That's how I went. Here is our current listing of clinics practicing informed consent: https://www.susans.org/wiki/Informed_consent

I hope this helps, and if not, we specialize in live 24/7 transgender support here on the site!  :)  Ask away. See you around the site!

Hugs, Devlyn

I was a bit confused by your first two posts so I held off a bit on my advice until I knew more. As you are a MTF, there are two things you should consider starting. The first is facial hair removal. It appears your beard is gray and if so it means electrolysis and that's a slow and expensive process. In addition, you need to have about 3 days growth before you can be treated and it extremely difficult to cover it up while you are growing it out. Normally it takes around 200 hours to get the hair under control so consider 2-4 hours a week of treatment time.

HRT is something that should help control the dysphoria however everybodies results differ. I was on HRT for about 4 years and had no difficulty passing as a male. Some on the site had male fail in as little as a few months. Be prepared with an alternate plan if things happen faster than expected but if things move slow, makeup and a proper hair style can speed up the process.

Other than that, the question for you is what do you want to do next. You can learn about voice therapy, makeup, hair, clothing, mannerism or anything else you can think of. Just let us know what you need help with.

Sorry to hear you got a little depressed :(   I have certainly been there.  All sorts of things can cause a down day or worse.  Gender dysphoria can be a minor factor, or it can be the entire reason.

I have a very good long term memory, although I often forget how bad my short term memory is.  But even with a good long term memory I've had to rack my brain thinking of things in earlier years - and then realizing with photographic accuracy events in my childhood that reinforced what I know today, thing that caused me to question core things about who I am.  Sounds to me like you would benefit from seeing a qualified counselor or therapist, one with experience in gender identity.  Hopefully you are near one of the larger cities (MSP) where you have more choices.

Do what makes you feel the best about yourself in the long run.  You are worth it.
Assigned male at birth 1963.  Decided I wanted to be a girl in 1971.  Laser 2014-16, electrolysis 2015-17, HRT 7/2017, GCS 1/2018, VFS 3/2018, FFS 5/2018, Labiaplasty & BA 7/2018.
