I was wondering, after SRS is the pleasure the same as before surgery?

I'm considering getting SRS, but not sure.

My orgasms post-op have been better than before... and I have new erogenous zones, since vaginal penetration is now an option (it's kind of impossible to describe what it's like, but it's been amazing). This is not to push you into any decisions, of course, just answering the question.

This may be rude but anyone "not sure" about having SRS probably shouldn't.

For me they are better, but at the same time the experience is very different.  Hearing about how cis women experience orgasms, sounds exactly like what I experience now.  The pleasure comes in waves and is much more of a whole body experience.  Getting to an orgasm is very different from before as well.  It is very sensitive to over stimulation and then nothing happens, where as before that was never the case.  I found a site that helps cis women with orgasms (omgyes), to be very helpful in this regard.

As how things feel, day to day.  In the beginning it feels like you are tucked.  I am now 7 months post op, and that tucked feeling fades away, and it just feels normal now.  It's hard to explain.   I think the mind adjusts to the re-mapping of the nerves and resets how things feel.

First HRT took away my male sexual response and I missed it but not against the mental clarity that came along with it. With time my sexuality came back and I learned I could experience orgasms that I'd really had to work to have when I was still on testosterone and better and once I learned how, they came easier and far far better.

I'm 9 weeks post op and as things heal I'm beginning to feel some sensuality/sexuality coming back. I made a masculine sexuality work for a long time mostly because I was accepting that I had to play a role to satisfy my partner and by projecting myself into a feminine place. Eventually the mental gymnastics needed to keep that going stopped working.

I have zero doubt that a month or two on I'm going to be much happier with post op sex than I ever was before.

My Surgeon asks me to write something for explaining the Orgasm experience after GCS. She gets this question about orgasms a lot and she can't really answer them with any authority because she's a natal woman.

So I wrote something for her and then I let one of our local Trans Therapist publish it on her blog.

It might be worth a read if you're interested. Let me reiterate, this is not my blog, I just wrote the piece for them.

Well, thank you for the Orgasm Blog and I also read your GRS description with Dr Gallagher. I too worked with her and Nicolle early this year and would have gladly gone there but they would not take Medicare. :-(

LOVE your writing. Informative, easy to read and sprinkled with your humor. . . thank you. . .

Thank you for the kind words Gail.

That fact that she has chose to stay here in Indianapolis and set up her GCS practice still boggles my mind. She is very understated when you first meet, but she has been the most responsive surgeon I've ever had. And I've had more than my fair share. She keeps things very professional though and it's pretty obvious that she's still dealing with a lot of hospital admin overhead working across two major hospitals. They just consolidated everything at main IU Hospital downtown. It seems likes she's really busy with FTM top surgeries right now while the backlog of MTF patients are in the process of hair removal.

I think the best part of my experience has been the fact she's local and accessible. I've done the out of the country surgery several times and not having to deal with those headaches has been worth it's weight in gold. Plus, I've had all my follow ups with her too and she always addresses my concerns if I have any. She also referred me to a physical Therapist to work on improving my Pelvic floor muscles.

This has been one hell of a journey. There were so many times where she listened to me whine about stuff about how it looked. She just kept telling me to be patient and she was right, every step of the way. It didn't really come  together for me until about 11-12 weeks. The Aesthetics and healing have changed dramatically since then and it's pretty much all healed, with zero pain at 16 weeks.

I'm not her spokesperson or anything, but I do think she's going to be the hub for GCS surgery in Indiana. That's a good thing for trans-people here and I welcome her commitment to our community. More power to her.

Did you find someone to take medicare? I don't know anything about the limitations of the insurance stuff.  Maybe you should checked back with Nicole and see if something changed? I really have no idea, it's a hail Mary suggestion.

I'm more than happy to share my experience, so don't be afraid to reach out if you have any questions.

I have zero complaints in the va-jay-jay department. If you're not sure then think long and hard about it. It's irreversible after its done, so you better really want it.

As I was reading about the IU consolidation I was thinking, I wonder if they'd take Medicare now.  But its not an issue for me now. I'm having surgery at NYU in NYC with Dr Rachel Bluebond-Langner on August 11th.  Since I've spoken with both Dr BL and Dr Gallagher I can say they're cut from the same cloth.  Dr BL is the nicest Dr I've ever met. I believe I'm in great hands. . . ` :)

The way I think about it:

Before all of the sensation was out on 'the peninsula.' Nice, explosive, but very localized.

Now the sensation is on the mainland and it spreads widely and in waves. It's MUCH better now.

AND - bonus - there's no outward sign to anyone that I'm fantasizing about them. :)

clit way- to me... it feels like a big long sneeze that hits all the right spots...its like your vagina sneezes. Im not sure if im the only one that sneeze and it feels good when you have a good one that takes the itch away.. but thats how it feels... minus the itch lmao .

the vagina way: what i did experience..o m g...... i cant describe... but.... it felt amazing... like....sparks..or some shock you .. idk lol .. but i cant way for my revision so i can go have lots of sex

I don't want to be a debbie downer, but I feel ->-bleeped-<- and i'm a year post op. The hrt made my orgasms feel like a joke pre-op, there was barely anything to feel at the climax. Now a year post-op and its worse than before in the sense that I don't actually HAVE orgasms anymore, no visible clitoris that I can see at least. My surgery must have gone wrong or something. Didn't want to sound like the voice of bad news, but sometimes this ->-bleeped-<- happens. That's why surgery is a big decision.

Aibhilín, this is an issue that CIS women may experience as well and it is treatable. Unlike a before HRT, you now need to be in the proper mode for sex. This requires proper foreplay and will cause you to feel a warm glow when the proper state is reached. The second part is the proper chemical balance. You require some testosterone but the levels should be in the feminine range. Normally the testosterone is provided by a low level patch designed for women with the same issue. It's also possible you might need progestogen to improve your sexual desire.

You should bring this up with your endo as normally it can be treated if your doctor is aware of the problem.

Thanks for the reply, Dena.

Unfortunately in the UK, it's not possible for me to be prescribed progesterone as our doctors/gender therapists don't deem it necessary and thus didn't include it into our hormone regimen. As for the testosterone, you may well be correct about me requiring some kind of patch to boost my levels as my testosterone is pretty much 0, maybe partly due to the fact that I started transition quite young, and was put on Zoladex Goserelin rather than spiro, so my body has had 0 testosterone production for about 5 years now not even from the adrenals if i'm correct, as Zoladex blocks the testosterone precursor from the pituitary gland (I think). Perhaps if my lack of visible clitoris gets sorted out, I may attempt some form of hormonal treatment to bring me back to normal human hormone levels, haha.
