Tammy Rodes

Hello y'all my name's Tammy. I'm a MtF trans and I'm not on HRT yet. I'm trying to get some life issues resolved before I start. I realized at a young age about 6 or 7 I was trans. I am really shy person irl and I kinda am online as well. I am a recovering alcoholic. I stopped about 4 or 5 years ago. I love music and play the drums. I collect cds and old school vinyl. I listen to a lot of hard rock, metal :icon_rockon: and indie. I also love movies mostly horror :icon_chainsaw:. I also love collecting movie stuff as well. I used to work for dell now I'm self employed fixing computers. I play a lot of video games mostly on the PS4 or Xbox One. I'm always looking for more friends on either platform. I sometimes stream on youtube/twitch. My favorite games are rpgs. I used to play a lot of text adventures and point and clicks as a kid and I still play them today. My favorite food hands down is pizza and yes I do like pineapple on it. I've came out to most everybody and most of my relatives and friends seem ok with it. Other relatives and friends just stopped talking to me. That really had a hard effect on me. I don't have a lot of friends as is and losing some really hurt me. I had to go to therapy to help cope with that and other issues. The hardest part was telling my boyfriend I was trans. I met him on a online game and we did talk and eventually met up. He is super cool and I didn't know how he would react. I thought he might even not want to be friends. When I told him it took him some time but in the end he became cool with it. Him being in my life really makes me smile and makes me feel somewhat better about myself. So yea that's me in a nutshell. I hope to meet and make some nice friends on here. I also hope to learn and to be prepared for whatever happens in my transition process.

Hi Tammy,

I'm Laurie MtF, 64, on hrt and a self appointed unofficial greeter here at the site. I would like to welcome you to Susan's Place. It's the place for you and me and many others that are trans of all flavors. Come on in Tammy, make yourself at home. Grab a chair, any chair.... umm sorry not that one it's mine. I've spent hours sewing the pink lace trim and blue dingle balls around the bottom. The pink on the seat and pack represent my new life as a female and the blue balls on the bottom re..... well everyone know what blue balls signify.  Yes that chair is okay it's a little beat up now but comfy still. It's V m 's, (you should see how she sit/lies, hangs in and on it). I swear she's a contortionist.

I too am a recovering alcoholic with 18+ years sober. I  can't say we have common tastes in pizza though. You have to be kidding about the pineapple right? I also have been known to play an online game though finding this forum has severely impacted my WoW play time. I think it's been a good trade off  as this forum has done wonders in helping me discover who I really am.

Anyway ((hug)) we are glad you're here. You are wanted and needed here and you'll find information, support and friends here.

Welcome Tammy, welcome home.

Hugs,
   Laurie

Welcome to Susan's place! It can be a bit daunting at first, with how much info is here, but if you have any questions don't be afraid to ask. There are some basic rules, and tips about these forums, and a moderator will be posting about them here at some point. However, it you want to read them now the easiest way would be to check out another person's thread here in the introductions section. There's bound to be a mod post with all the advice.

Welcome again, and good luck to you!
Hey all, I've created a new account because my life has begun anew.  This is to protect my identity.  Thanks for your understanding!

Hello Tammy, and welcome!

I am also MTF and think it's great you are defining your own path to best fit your needs.  I started my HRT prescription just three days ago but took care of several things earlier.  Almost finished permanent hair removal, minor soft-tissue facial surgery, etc.

I personally understand the difficulty and courage required to quit alcohol - I had my last drink in 2003.  Congratulations to you for tackling that.  More recently, sounds like you have faced difficult choices with friends and relatives but also some good news there.  I am glad to hear you have a therapist and you have a good plan for your future.

I have learned so much from others here, met some awesome people and wish the same for you.

We have information to provide to new members which I have pasted here for you.  Some of this is to keep everything running smoothly, and some handy links to save you time.

Hi Tammy!! Welcome!
I'm a gamer myself (PS4), though my gaming time has drastically decreased in the last few months (from 40+ hours a week to maybe 10 if I'm lucky). Just not enough time!
Always good to have another pineapple pizza fan!! :icon_joy:
I'm a fan of a variety of different music, but I definitely lean towards metal.

Anyways, enjoy your stay here! There's an overwhelming amount of helpful info, as well as great advice.

I forgot to respond to this part!  Hey Tammy, my gamertag for Xbox One is in my info on the left if you want to add me.  Just message me to let me know it's you!

Welcome Tammy. My name is Dawn and I have been on HRT for 11 months now. My son plays videogames and can't wait for Pax to come. Pax is a game vendors convention and lasts 3 days here in Seattle. Video game we had when I was your age was Pong and I had a Mattel Odyssey where we played dot baseball. I got pretty good at EA Sports baseball but when I could not beat my son anymore I retired. I do like Zelda but really suck at it. I played GTA also and found it to be fun. Hope you visit often as these are a tremendous group of ladies and the information they share is greatly appreciated. I've known I was trans for a long time before I found verification last year. But at the time I didn't know anything and the resources for information was hard to find. Way prior to the web. Take care.

My very first video game console was pong (from Radio Shack!). Then one birthday I got an Atari 2600, and it was the most amazing thing I'd ever seen.

Thanks for all the responses :D and I'm glad to be here. Yea the first ever console I had was a pong type machine. My dad got it. He had to listen to some time share thing and that was a free gift. We never got it working lol. Yea my second one was a 2600. My older brother got me into Sierra games. Spent many hours playing Leisure Suit Larry, King's Quest, and Phantasmagoria. Well just about any Sierra game I could my hands on. Yea I was never good at Zelda well except Ocarina of Time. Played that game to death. Yea I am glad something like this exist in the transgendered community. It gives everybody not just transgendered people help when they need it. When I was growing up the internet didn't exist. So it was hard to understand how I felt. When I graduated high school that's about when I first ever got on the internet. I was so happy to know I wasn't alone. Thanks again for making me feel so welcomed :D

Welcome Tammy!

I love pineapple on pizza too  ;D I love computer games but I'm too busy having fun with games of my own devising, building robots, writing software utilizing machine learning and AI. Then there is VR and AR to explore too.

I'm planning to be working on my own business in the not so distant future. In the meantime I'm an employee.

It's good to hear that you have a mostly supportive community around you. That makes the whole transition process so much easier.

See you around!
