Okay, so this isn't an all out coming out,  it's a first for me.  I figure we can continue this thread with other firsts that people did for coming out.

I went to ULTA today and bought myself some perfume.  I was asked if I was buying for my girlfriend and I said nope, myself.  I got a smile, but that was about it.

Still a first step, albeit small.  I plan on wearing a dab of this when I go out, maybe even at work I'm the future.  Oh, the one I bought is Coach mainly fruity with a hint of musk.  Hmm, sound like me?

I can remember when this would have been utterly impossible for me.  Not too long ago.  Funny how we build our own invisible walls - I sure did.  There was a time when I didn't even want to walk past the women's perfume counter if I was taking a short cut through a department store. 

And then I began to realize those are my own inhibitions.  If anyone has a problem if I shop for myself, that's their fabricated problem not mine.  A business is in business to make money.  A salesperson is there to gain a customer and maybe make a commission.  If a salesperson thinks they are the Fashion Police or Gender Enforcement they are are in the wrong job, wrong century. 

Most salespeople are nice.  The bad ones can't sell and end up doing something else. 

 Congrats Bari Jo. That's a good first. I remember well my first purchase in femme at a little cajoling and daring from a few riends here on Susan". From that point I've had so many firsts good and bad. The most embarrassing first I had was having to play the part of a damsel in distress while filling up at a gas station/truck stop while in girl mode by locking myself out of my pickup. I had to go inside and ask for help getting a locksmith to come rescue me.
  I related it all honestly in my road trip thread along with many others.

I started wearing a little perfume at the suggestion of my therapist to help with my GD. I would dab some in the centre of my chest and when I ducked my head under my shirt I could smell it easily and found it really soothing...not sure if anyone else could smell it or not but I only ever used a small amount...not anymore I tend to have to try and restrain myself...perfume and Jewellery are my thing I guess 

Congratulations Bari Jo. That's a nice first step. When I was 14 I started wearing mascara and eyebrow pencil. I actually did it because my lashes and brows are snow white and I really hate how that looks. I got away with it "slightly" at first. But after I started adding eyeliner the albino excuse didn't work anymore.

Laurie, that's funny. But don't feel bad. I did that once too. I had to call my dad to bring me the spare keys. Of course he laughed at me. And for like a week after, every time I went somewhere he would tell me to be sure and lock the keys in the car so I didn't lose them. And even worse once my car wouldn't start after work so I had to call my brother. He started checking things and then he gave me his "are you really this stupid look". It was out of gas! I hadn't thought about that. It seems like interacting with cars makes me get dumb. Lol

Laurie, first purchase en femme, yeah that would be memorable.  I've only gone outside in femme for Halloween and even then was jr high school.  I ended up trick or treating and coming home.  I'm a long way from public girl mode ATM.

Elizabeth, great idea, the GD can get overpowering sometimes.  I hadn't thought of perfume as therapy, just that I want it instead of cologne.  Nice.

Julia, your stories are always so fun.  Always great visuals. It brings up another first though, first time in make-up.  I started doing that a couple months ago.  I bought mascara and eyeliner.  I put them on at home and noticed immediately that I can't wear mascara.  It makes my eyes look like hooker crazy long fake eyelashes.  Might be fun for a party but never everyday.  On the other hand, applying eyeliner pencil and rubbing it in to not call attention, I think looks subtle and nice.  I only put it on my lower lid, which seems to make my eyes look bigger.

I'm afraid one day my eyeliner will run and reveal what I've been doing:)

It sounds like you have really nice lashes. You could try using clear mascara. It separates and defines your lashes without adding color. Yes you do have to be careful about eyeliner running. About mid day I notice black shadows under my eyes. My eyemakeup is all waterproof but even so it leaves a black shadow under my eyes after a few hours. But as for people outing you for eyeliner...well who gives a s###? If someone has the nerve to ask you if you're wearing eyeliner just say " yep, I sure am. Do you want some?"

Yup, I was noticing exactly that.  I did get blessed with the lashes of the family, if I transitioned at 20, it would have been easy, as I had male fail daily.  If you all want to see, pm, I'll send you a college pict.  I'm old now, so it's but fading base to polish;(

I have been applying Latisse for the past three months, works great.  I actually had to trim one lower individual eye lash for growing too much and the rest look natural.  Unfortunately Latisse is a bit expensive and the packaging wasteful (98% air and cheap brushes, found better quality ones on Amazon for two bucks).  I have read about side effects on a few people, main thing is apply Latisse carefully and never while driving.   At that price per gallon I don't want to spill any.

My first like that was back when I first started laser hair removal presenting as a male. I did the first appointment face only, second appointment was face, torso, abdomen and when it was time to take my shirt off I felt I had to ask her if she knew I was transgender (even though HRT was listed on medicines) cause I was binding (with a sports bra).
"You know I am transgender right?"
"Yes"
"Ok so no surprises when I take my shirt off."
"Nope no surprises"
Felt good to acknowledge it and be acknowledged. A smile and/or shoulder shrug, I think, is the best reaction.

Heh, I am following in your footsteps.  First laser session is next Wed.  I'm scared and excited.  I'm doing the chest first.  My beard has way too much grey to do it.

I was super nervous first session also but it was great. It was, I knew, my first "outing" in public 'cause I knew I was going to have to write it on the form and answer questions, I knew eventually the shirt was coming off. Where they trans friendly? Was the spa trans friendly but the laser person not so much? Was I going to be treated but with a scowl? What about..... [add all the whats and ifs you can think of].
Was allot of worry for nothing they all just went *shoulder shrug is ok. Now I'm a VIP member in there being spoiled twice a month and next week I'm going for some Dermaplaning

I was also lucky I am very pale and had very black root so, so far I am getting off lucky with just needing laser no electrolysis. For me nipple HURT, I definitely arched my back up off the table each blast and around the sides of my belly button... very very ticklish.

Eyeliners and I have had a love hate relationship...I now only screw it up once in 3 or 4 times but you can guarantee it is when I don't really have time to fix it..Murphy's Law...and if I have just put some on I am bound to have a blub not long after giving me that ever special Panda Eyes
